I made this up out of some silnylon. No idea how it will actually work in reality but I should be able to "drop camp" and still have it protected from the elements yet easy to access.

Where did you get it silnylon from?

I got the silnylon from DIYGearSupply.com. It is a 2nd which they sell with the statement of "no noticeable defects". I have to say that I was a little disappointed when I got it as it definitely has a noticeable excess of silicone in spots and it is fairly heavy (for silnylon that was supposed to be 1.1oz/yd before coating). Anyway, I wasn't going to use it for a tent or tarp or anything big but I have found some smaller projects where I can use the better parts. Anyway, for a bag like this, it seemed to really work well. I have quite a bit if anyone wants to work something out for some. I just wanted to mention the above up front.

I also used a waterproof zipper and I will seam seal it. I don't expect it to be truly waterproof like a dry bag will be but I like the idea of being able to just plop it down on wet ground and still be able to access it like a duffel bag. Like the camp bag, I have it set to unzip from either end unlike a typical duffel bag.

Anyway, I am hijacking this thread so I digress. Shoot me a PM if you want any more info.

Yes that's a back pouch cinched up. I should be getting an outdoor research dry sack in the next few days so I'll post some pics of how that configuration looks also. Just let me know if there any other pics that you guys want to see.

Wrench, What made you go with the back pouch vs a medium pod like in the photos Aaron posted of the Nomad? Have not seen a pod or the back pouch in person myself so curious, I like the setup!

I ordered the back pouch with the intention of having it on top of the belt pouches. But when I had it there the wings didn't close as much as I'd like so I just decided to try it on the waist belt and it seems to work good there. The pod would work fine too, but I prefer the zipper access on the back pouch.

Thanks Wrench.
I bought the Long Hunter Lid with my Bikini/Nomad order, and am thinking of buying the 35L OR durable dry sack.

The Longhunter lid would probably be a better way to go for top storage, especially when it comes time to haul out meat.

Which size pod would fit best on the bottom of the nomad? Not having seen a pod with my own eyes, I'm wondering if a large would fit at the bottom? Or, if a medium is as large as I should go?

In one of the nomad threads there is a picture with different sized pods on it.

I did see that, but don't recall offhand seeing what size they were. On longer trips, I'm considering storing my clothes and/or sleeping bag in a pod at the bottom. That would leave extra room in the camp bag for meat on the way out. I like the idea of a system where I can dump my tent and clothes at my camp spot without unpacking and repacking.

I am pretty sure that Aron demonstrated it unzipping from the bottom. That way you could access stuff with the top rolled.

That'd be awesome. I do recall him unzipping the EMR II from the bottom. But I only recall him unzipping from the top and tucking the zipper under the part that was rolled up on the camp bag.

Ah, ok. Could have been the EMR II that I thinking of. One off the reasons I put the double zip on the bag I made.
