Kifaru Nomad User Reviews

A wise Rokslider (Bitterroot bulls) once told me to "let 'em dangle." I have ever since and feel that i am way cooler looking this way... which we all know is very important.

Not going there...

I never worried about the excess straps but this weekend I went on a hike with my BT2 and the wind was really whipping. One in a million shot but the excess strap from the lid strap smacked me in the eye - hurt like hell and I think it scratched something because its still bothering me a bit today.
Funny part was it happened so quick that it actually pissed me off but who was I going to get mad at?

I dont know if its like this with all kifaru bags.. but the black teflon sleeve that slides over the top of the frame has a cut out which I assume is meant to be a handle so you can grab the top frame piece. Well the hole is made for like miniature hands would cutting it bigger with a razor blade cause any potential problems? Will that stuff fray or fall apart if I mess with it? Anyone ever done this?

Now I have to give the eye nerd speech... as an eye doctor I have to advise you get that checked if it is still hurting you after 4 days.

Ha - fair enough and I wouldn't say it's really hurting just feels like I got poked in the eye. If it's still bugging me after tomorrow I will get it checked. Thanks

Folks who hike in heavy wind will learn to ignore the "let it dangle" advice pretty quickly. Tackling the great outdoors can be hard enough without being beat to piss by your own pack straps. ;-)

I bought some of those MR velcro strips and they work pretty well thus far.

I don't feel like any extra straps or buckles are needed with my experiences with it so far. As far as the dominators, I like them but you could always just tie the loose straps together.

The nomad has 3 cross lash straps and 2 vertical on the center frame panel. You also have loops running the inside edges at the wing junctions as well as the loops running down the frame rails outside the wings. A lash kit wouldn't be a bad idea and if you use the genII it has lash straps also.
