Hey lam, there's nothing in this world you can't do !!!!!
Life has a way of passing doors of opportunity past you your entire life. Have enough faith in yourself to walk through one of those doors. You might find that you really enjoy it. I was sitting at the bar with a good buddy. He said he was bored n wanted to go do something. That was on a Wednesday night. I sold my bike n guns n bow n such n bought an old camper trailer. We hooked it up to his El Camino on Friday and headed to Alaska. That was over 40 years ago.
Met my beautiful wife n got married 4 months later . Never had any fights. And our kids n grandkids are our neighbors. And I have a chessy that is great. Moose seem to have finally moved along and not in our driveway. Except for the dead one frozen next to the driveway. The one camping out in the hay shed finally left to. Pooed all over the hay.
I'm not a guy that knows much more than cruising through some forums in the morning having coffee or finding parts. Always fixing things. Points on my 1959 case backhoe. Wife got my El Camino insured yesterday.
I really need to get to the cabin for a bit of healing. Just go hang out. Walkabouts. Watch n listen to the animals interact. Campfire, whiskey.
Just sit on the porch in the morning air with a cup of coffee off the woodstove. Feed the sprucehens. Tinker, endless tinker.
I'm sure that the wood shed collapsed. On my 4 wheeler. I freighted out enough material to build an equipment shed. Have 200 TnG boards to install upstairs.
I had a buddy out that got kinda ill. I has able to get a hold of the pilot we use, David Hicks and he flew out the next day. I used the 6 wheeler to get my buddy to the lake. And escorted my buddy. Well, my wheeler is still sitting next to the lake. I'm sure the bears have had a ball, again. Another you'll have that moment.
Supposed to get my neck fused soon. After a couple years of having a neck broken in 2 spots for a couple years is crimping my style. Last time they fused it, on the day of the surgery the surgeon comes to visit. First thing he said was huh didn't think you'd make it back. You'll have that.
Probably getting long in the tooth. Have a book pretty soon.
Mostly would like to say. Trust yourself. If you're going to have a chance in the bush you better get used to it.
I was blessed to be able to clear some land n built our little homestead. Working on our retirement home now. But the city is moving in. Was only a couple hundred people here when I got here. Something inside me just wants to get out. Now I can really enjoy the meaning of that. Right in the middle of a kazillion acres of remote public lands. Not many folks there, some folks a couple miles north staked to. But I've only seen them freighting in the winter a couple times. Nothing where I go or could ever get to. Just the bush. Here I go again. Can't even stop thinking, writing about it.

I'm glad that I'm able to share part of my outdoors life. Just wish others had more chance to do the same thing. But rarely see or read about folks going out n building a cabin to hunt n recreate at. Folks just don't do this much anymore it seems. Does anyone here have a cabin ?
Especially since getting oller makes getting out harder having a place to stay in makes it more comfortable. I certainly enjoy hunting but I can go out there any time of the year and never get bored. Always maintenance and improvements. Firewood. But I probably spend half of my time just chilling out. Doing things like a canoe trip or just sitting on the deck watching the world. Different world there. I enjoy foraging and learning about plant life in the area. What's edible, medicinal.
And watching the different critters interact. Being out for a month or two you tend to see a bigger picture for lack of better words. Hard to describe. I also go out on snogos in the winter n try to learn a little about trapping n getting into the bush.
Again just trying to hopefully inspire others to give it a try if the opportunity comes along, sounds like a few folks would like to try. It's different than a typical hunting outing I suspect. Especially if you would like to take your family out. Nobody but you n family. Wether hunting or just getting the body and soul healed up. Sit in the tioga n watch a swan family with your family.
Hunting with family and helping them harvest and need to process their first moose or any for that matter.
. And I am getting oller n not as strong as I used to be so trying to build a walk in cooler by insulating out generator shed and installing an air conditioner. Got a little freezer/ refrigerator freighted out recently to. I need some extra time if I harvest a moose. Do have wheeler there to freight.

After years of wanting a place, I broke down and bought some land this past winter, 10 acres on a lake. We built a cabin this spring on it and I cannot wait to spend my winters out there trapping and fishing. Little work left on the interior, but nothing we can't finish in a few days of work.

We do have a completely off grid cabin, on an island on the coast down here. Very different problems and building than you have up there I'm sure. We're only a 20 minute boat ride across the bay so I don't really consider it remote, but not being able to order a truck load of lumber and hauling everything by boat sure makes things difficult. I finally got the porch done this spring and it's incredible how much it adds to the experience. We shoot hogs from the porch and gives the dogs a place to get up away from the snakes.
