Good luck Slim Jim, loving the thread! Hope you guys get into the bucks! But dang I wish our winters were like that! It's up to a whopping 3° here! Again, best of luck to you guys!
After setting up camp last night the winds started up and it has howling like a SOB! We haven't located anything yet but a lot of sign. I think they might be hunkered down with these winds. That's alright though because they have to get up sooner or later.
We are going to glass here another hour and then move to another vantage point to glass some more. Hopefully we can locate some nice horns sticking out!
Well after glassing all morning, nothing. Nothing until we made the trek to fill up our water when 150 yards in front of us crossing over a finger perpendicular from us, comes one doe, two doe, three doe, four doe, and a nice typical 4. Yes! He had decent mass about 24-26" wide and so so on height. We have a shooter! Now if we can just stay on top of him so that we can put a stalk on him will should be ok as long as the does will just close their eyes and not listen.
Just located another herd. 4 does, 2 fawn, forky, and a typical 4. Just a little smaller than the other one.
They were heading the same direction as the others in almost the same exact location. It's a creek that they are heading to. With all of the eyes, we might have to ambush them we will see. Here is a photo of one of the deer heading into the bush
I'll try and get better photos if they would just quit moving. They are on the go
Right on slim! Keep posts coming. I just made Tucson. I saw a loner doe on side of the road and a nice ram just south of Nevada border. It's looking up for us buddy.
Well I've located the smaller 4x and he was with 2 does. I lost the buck but seen the does go into a small draw and havent came out. Very stalkable with wind in my face and creep over the top. I hope the buck is still with them. It shouldn't be more than a 50 yard shot. I'll let you know what happens
