New Mystery B&T suppressor

I just certified one today so now the wait begins. If it sucks, I will find something to do with it. I was hoping it would be comparable to my Jolene S.

Let us know! I felt it was louder by a good margin over the Jolene s. In hindsight I should have bought a pile of enticers and Jolene’s. I’ve been very happy impressed any of those I’ve shot.

That sucks about this can. It had some good # pre- firing. Fwiw, my Scythe with the brake on the end is pretty damn quiet. Buddy has one that he put the flat end cap on, and it is quieter, but not by much. I chose to leave mine as is and take the extra recoil reduction.

Same with my Enticer LTi with a Recoil X Brake. It’s stupid quiet so thought this would be similar.

Well poo. That’s why it’s so loud. Putting brakes on the end of cans, turns “good” suppressors into “loud” suppressors. They have their use, but not where you actually care about suppression.

Knowing what I know now; what is the best host for it in terms of sound? A 300 BO AR, 223 bolt gun, 204 Ruger bolt gun? Or am I incorrect thinking their smaller powder charge would equate to less noise?

Well, I can say that my 17 inch .223 with my 9 inch banish on is by far the most quiet setup I have. So powder charge means something. But I don’t know if it’s enough to make loud quiet. The banish despite its flaws and reputation here does suppress well across the board but the .223 is particularly impressive.

Was the recoil reduction at least better? Or just it just suck across the board? If so leave a review on silencer shop? Save someone else at least.

(For accuracy’s sake I’m remembering I have a single shot blackout. That is, naturally, quieter)

So here is what I got back. Canned response. I did not get information on the end cap being removable or number of baffles.

3d printed Ti Type II Anoidized and High Temp Cerakote
Average Mil dBA 140.5 dB measured from 16inch .308 Win
comes Direct thread 5/8x24 but is hub compatible
Magnum rated
Length 6.3 in
7.8 oz
Use of this suppressor on firearms with Barrels under 10 inches in length, may experience higher than normal rates of erosion, when exposed to higher rates of fire over time.
Hearing the reports that it’s loud, it makes me wonder about this response from B&T. First of all, I don’t know much about decibel levels - is 140.5 considered good for this size suppressor?

If it is, I wonder how B&T tested this. How legitimate it is.

That number means nothing without knowing the specifics of how they measured it. Regardless of those specifics, and the fact that the guys here report it being very loud, means that it is probably borderline hearing safe or not hearing safe depending on the specific gun it's on.

And yes, higher powder charge for same caliber bullet means higher dB.

I’m considering switching my raptor order to a Jolene. Get it sooner and save a chunk of money. A bit frustrated that it showed in stock and it wasn’t and the only response from silencer shop to that was to offer to cancel or do a warthog. Getting more impatient than I should be.

I almost feel bad bringing this can up now that it doesn’t perform to expectations. I wanted it to be great but something set my bs radar off.

All makes sense - thank you

The Jolene and Jolene s are out of stock on silencer shop right now

To be fair, it's only 1 report so far? I'm curious to hear some more.

Gents, just shot this can and it’s very loud. I did a video I’ll try to share later today but shot side by side with most of my cans and it was by far the loudest. Louder than my TBAC U5 by a ways. If you haven’t purchased yet, the Jolene S was noticeably quieter for similar weight and less money.

Did you notice any difference in recoil between suppressors

No, but it was a light recoiling 6SST. I will say the muzzle blast caught me off guard and I noticed small flame and blast come out while looking through the scope. It would make spotting impacts more difficult depending on the shot I think. I wonder if one of the brake slots was orientated straight up. I’ll have to go back and look at my video.

If someone is tech savvy I took a video shooting them all to hear and see any differences but I don’t know how to post videos.

Agree it’s a sample of one. Very interested to hear others feedback. I really hope something is just wrong with mine. I don’t have a decibel meter but it’s the only suppressor that made my ears ring out of the group.

Pics below show the screen shots from the video of gas leaving from the Jolene and the B&T to show the muzzle blast I’m talking about.

I'm a new member here. I found this thread in a search. I have a B&T Ranger in ATF jail right now. I wish that I had found this thread first. In any case, I expect to get my stamp this week and will shoot it this coming weekend, and I will post my opinions next week. This is going on a new Weatherby Alpine CT in 7mm backcountry. I haven't shot the rifle yet. Ammo is scarce, so I decided to wait to sight in with the suppressor. The reason that I went for this can is it's light weight for a very light weight, packable rifle. That being said, I have a few cans, and I know the difference between a loud and a quiet one. This rifle is exclusively for hunting, so I won't be shooting long strings with it, and sound suppression isn't as critical. I always wear hearing protection with suppressed rifles except when hunting. Let y'all know how it sounds next week.

Hoping to shoot this thing this coming weekend so I'm changing hubs for the new Tikka goofy thread. Got to looking inside. This rust? There's also a strange looking white line, looked like residual dust but I can feel ala bit of a ridge there when I try to rub it with my finger. Haven't shot it yet but I'm gonna.
