There are prickly pear cactus EVERYWHERE. Plucked quite a few from my legs.

How are you doing where you are at?

I'm down by the border getting ate up in the flats. I need some elevation. I found a spot this evening and found some coues but no bucks. I'm hitting same spot in the morning. We will see...

We have been pounded by winds since we got here on Wednesday. They finally started to let up yesterday until last night. They came back even stronger. It felt like the tent was getting tore up but it made it. Poor Lyle in that cheap tent, it's more like a windbreaker jacket than a tent but he's holding strong and not complaining. The winds are making it difficult to glass this morning. The tripod keeps blowing over and everything shaky thru the binos. Haven't located anything but a lone doe.

The only upside to the wind is if you bed a buck. He can't hear in it any better than you can. Hope you see one.

You are right Robby. They didn't hear me come in on them yesterday, the problem was that I came over on top of them a little higher than I wanted and the doe winded me cause if I would of come over right on top of them I probably would have got a shot off.

We located some does with a 3x3 about 20" wide. Lyle spotted them and he's off to try and head them off feeding. Hopefully they come in his direction. Fingers crossed

Here is a photo. Check out the silver doe on the left

Well he headed them off right where we thought they were feeding but the last tree that he had to stay behind was about 150 yards away from where they were feeding in the open and didn't make it to him before dark.

We still have tomorrow morning to glassem up, put them to bed and make a final stalk before we break down camp and head home. I still have that lucky horseshoe so we will see what happens.

Here's a photo of a teenage hunter getting his first kill with a bow who passed through our camp. Congrats kiddo!

I don't think you could pay me to try and eat javelina. Congrats to the hunter though, always fun to spill blood on mother earth's fine linens.

Javelina has a different taste. A lot of people don't know this but they are not even in the pig family

The last javelina I killed I had turned into pepperoni type beef sticks. It ended up being 30 pounds and it was very good.

We set up on two separate fingers about 1/4 mile apart so that we can cover most of land but we are not seeing anything. I wish I could be here a couple more days, I know that I could get it done. We're going to glass about another hour and a half. We will see but not looking good. We usually see something by now. Maybe the coyotes on the javelina gut pile have relocated them. The pile was only about 3/4 of mile away from where we are glassing

Got back to camp and Lyle said that he a got a stalk on that 3x3 but couldn't locate him when he got down to where he thought he was. I think I've created another monster for the backpack hunting community. He said that when he gets back home he will log in and elaborate on his thoughts. Breaking down camp and going home. I hope you enjoyed the journey. Wish I could've knocked one down
