Is it all Leopolds

Thinking about grabbing a scope during black friday sales. I have a few mark 5s but am curious about the trijicon tenmile. For those that have tried both, what was your preference?

“Deflection is a tactic where someone avoids criticism or blame by shifting the focus or responsibility onto something or someone else.”
No deflection. I’ll call the tikka and leupold haters part of the cult.

Using his definition and his role in the cult following…

I’ve caught a shit load of shit for using lighter recoil and smaller calibers for hunting. I used to be the 30 cal only for big game.
This shift was due to the 223 thread.

I used to own only leupold scopes. Now I own mostly leupolds. I got one NF and trying to decide if I want to drop more money on a second one.

I tried the SWFA line a few years ago and it was so murky looking through it I sold it on a rifle for nothing.

I'd take a good shooter and a "good" scope versus a nervous Nellie with a perfect scope any day of the week. However, no disagreement that drop tests are showing a difference between manufacturers.
What does this have anything to do with Mark 5s and VX series losing zero on a simple truck ride to a shooting day spot? (Just happened to my buddies mark 5 a few weeks ago).

Shoot and kill with what works. Folks opinions and feelings don’t matter when you’re stacking big game animals while they just talk.

I appreciate the point, how much did it lose zero? Did it shift a half inch one way or the other, did it shift a foot one way or the other?

Everything else is good, rifle bedding, scope mounts and rings, so that it is isolated to the scope and only the scope, yes?

With drop tests I am very confident the scope is the variable. When dealing with other situations, I think it's fair to ask those questions.

What I shared has everything to do with a good shooter and a scope brand that has killed hundreds of millions of animals that may wander a bit one way or the other on paper but may not be relevant on a vital-sized target and a cone of fire in the field versus a guy showing up to hunting camp with a shiny new dime on top of his rifle thinking he's foolproof and he can't shoot for crap on a live animal. There's an absolute difference between those two scenarios in my opinion.

Zero. They don’t track zero.

Yea, I knew what you meant glad you said very plain to understand.

Almost all my buddies use leupold, or now vortex.

They ask razz me, why in the world would you put that $300 scope on your gun….

When he and others pop out to range and I’ll ask what are you doing? “Checking zero duh.” Later I’ll ask you get it re-zeroed, “yep no problem, still have 8 rounds left for season”. I’ll ask, didn’t you re zero after hitting that buck poorly and lost him, and found out it wasn’t zeroed… “yes”. So it was not shot since then, and yet lost zero in your gun cabinet and it was zeroed last season before opener. “No response”. Handed him my 350L with 6x I have not shot since last season, one shot in the cone….

This was a real conversation I’ve had with many friends.

2nd friend, nice buck bedded in cut corn. I’m on spotter, he gets down wind and belly crawls 400 yards of 600 down wind. He hesitated because he lost confidence in his gun with a Nikon, same conversation and several misses. Handed him the same 350L and pre dialed .8 for 180 yard zero and poke just told him hold tight heart area 200 and in. He killed it.

The later, is working on a rss variant. The former, quietly changed his scope from his beloved vx3, to … vx-r 😔

I’ve done all I can and maintain great friendships.

.6 MIL low and .4 MIL right at 100. He kept missing during high wind practice and is not one who misses often.

It’s his current PRS gun, known good gun and mounts. It was the scope, as Leupolds do often when actually used.

Nah! Don't tell me someone cherry picked a definition to not include common uses of the word "cult" :ROFLMAO:

I copied the very first definition that popped up in the search-

Which is the use that he intended regardless.

“Cult”, like “racism”, “misogynist”, etc. are overused words for when a fact based, legitimate argument can’t be made. Instead of taking a drive by cop out with an overused term- people could actually form a coherent and logical position to have a discussion.

You are seriously about to lose all credibility. The second definition is for sure what I’m talking about. I used it correctly.

Don’t be offended. Embrace. Embrace your calling.

Had the same thing happen last fall with vx6. Confirmed zero before driving to Idaho with 20 rounds. Got to camp after a long highway drive. Gun was in the back seat in padded hard case. Shot to confirm and was off 6” high 2” right.
Then it didn’t want to track to adjust when I tried to re zero.

It's hilarious when people change quotes and say "fixed it". How "Rokslide" that has become. Come up with your own words. In case it needs clarifying, it's generally accepted that 35Whelen might be the definition of "butt hurt".
"Fixing" or FTFY (short for "fixed that for you") someone's post to something funny/funnier/sarcastic has been a popular thing on forums for at least 2 decades. It's just a funny way of conveying a response. Lighten up. Also, I fixed your post for you.
