Idaho Files Criminal Complaint Against Ryan Lampers Over Trophy Deer, Lion, and Wolf Cases

Hmm, this is the 3rd post I’ve saw about this & the other two disappeared.

My apologies, it wasn’t showing on my end but my phone was acting up. I restarted my phone & the one showed back up.

It looks like they are still in the legal maneuvering phase of pre-trail legal proceedings. A hearing was held on 9/22, another is set for 11/3/25. At this point they are going through discovery and generally kicking the can down the road as they build a defense and try to get some sort of plea deal so it doesn't go to trial. At least that is standard procedure for a lot of criminal defense cases; stall as long as possible, poke holes in the prosecutors case/evidence and work out a plea bargain without a trial.

The 9/22 date was likely his initial appearance where he must enter a plea. Nothing will happen anytime soon and I’d be shocked if the case ever makes it to a courtroom.
We'll see. Might get a motivated prosecutor who is a hunter or wildlife sympathizer and if they have him dead to rights on the evidence they could run the gambit on him and make an example for any future poachers who think they can come to Idaho and steal resources. If that's the case I hope they do. If he pleads out and gets a slap on the wrist then I'd imagine he'll be ran out of Idaho and Montana anyway. Time will tell.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't end in pleading down to improper tagging, he'll get a 3 year ban and lose the animals, $500 fine plus court fees, and 120 hours of community service. The grand theft charges will be dropped.

No prosecutor is going to turn down an opportunity to get a guilty plea regardless of the evidence.
