A recent meateater Trivia question was "what was the name of the "ak47 uzi radar laser triple barrel double scoped heat seeking shotgun" used to kill the Turdy point buck" and no one got it right!

Duh, Betty Lou!

I'd probably grab my xbolt 300 wsm re the OP.

Well my moose gun is a 14.5” AR15 in 458 socom. It is what I plan on hunting with. If I opt to use a bolt gun it’ll most likely be either one of my 6.5cm or the 300 wm since they are all threaded and I get to pick my can up when I go to town again.

Sounds to me like a reason to buy one more!!!

Alone in bear country, from what I have, my .338WM would feel very comfortable.
If not alone, it would greatly depend on what other people are bringing. Might opt for a RS Special, and carry my .45 Super for fuzzy wuzzy.

You can only bring one firearm on a DIY alaskan moose hunt - what are you bringing and why? Bolt action, lever action, semi auto, handgun? This firearm would have to be used to kill a moose and for bear defense etc.
One of the two that I normally use for such.
Either a 20" 375 or 416 Ruger, stainless, synthetic stock, bolt action. The scopes may vary, but within the 1-4X24 up to 1-8x24.
The maintenance level is minimal, they are reliable, plenty accurate, and handy as to maneuverability.

I have a Bofors Sako 30-06 that I’d like to take on that hunt but it’s too nice to get wet so it’d have to be my .308 Montana. Biggest gun I have.

Steyr Mannlicher Classic in 270 WSM. My wife bought it for me for our 1st Christmas. It’d be a once in a lifetime hunt so I’d use a special to me rifle. It’s been hard to explain why I need other rifles since then but I find an excuse.

Whatever bolt gun you shoot well and hunt with at home. I like a scope with a low end magnification under 3, but definitely not more than 3 for that hunt. Shortish barrel. Not a long range hunt by any means, so keep that in mind.

Model 70 in .270. I get the reliability of a control round feed and I also get 5 shots with a standard caliber instead of a magnum (3).

I'd try one of those new Beretta BRX-1 straight pulls in 308.

A 264 win mag for me.. I've managed to kill 1 of almost every species with it and I'd like to get one of everything before I die.
