I’ve had the opposite experience with PSA.
2 pistol kits on lowers I had were junk.
Wouldn’t run at all.

Was a 3 hour nightmare with CS to get a refund and they deleted my review the day after I posted it.

Pretty hard against them if I can afford to do so.

Interesting thread. Anyone have experience with the folding buffer tube adapters from LAW etc? Considering trying one, specifically for vehicle stowage and access, and for discrete transport when in the public eye. Anyone who has tried one, what are your thoughts? Cheers

The folding setup is cool until you shoot it. The folding knuckle is right in your face when you shoot and that sucks. I prefer the Maxim Defense collapsible stock. You can actually fire the weapon with it collapsed……

That may in fact be the case.

Full disclosure it was about 5 years ago when it seemed like a lot of people ended up experiencing QC issues. As far as the product goes.

CS, on the other hand, was very disappointing.

I should be receiving my 12.5 inch 6.8 SPC ll complete upper tomorrow (Blackstone Arms). I’ll attach that to the LWRC AR-15 complete lower that I already have.

I plan on removing the A2 flash hider and replacing it with a Q Cherry Bomb that I already have — and that will allow me to attach the Trash Panda suppressor that I have on a .556 AR now to the 6.8 SPC anytime.

I will probably scope it with a Trijicon Credo 1x8x28 HX that I have on order.

I might also try it out with a 3x9 Trijicon Accupoint (post green triangle reticle) that I have on another rifle right now. That Accupoint with that reticle is really clear and really fast and provides all the accuracy needed for most purposes out to 300 yards (which is pretty much the limit of the 6.8 SPC for easy shooting).

That 6.8 SPC ll set up pretty much ticks all the boxes the original poster was interested in but the ammo is no where near as cheap as .556 (although quality 70 grain plus .556 is not exactly dirt cheap either).

I picked up a lower last fall when they were cheap, put a rise trigger in it and threw an upper on it that I built. Worked great for deer season. No issues. Can’t really tell any difference between the PSA lower any of the others I have other than the PSA is a low shelf.

The ar15 is a sealed system. Side charger opens the system to debris and weather.

LPVO’s always seem to be in the way for me.

I never thought about that and that’s a big consideration now.

It always seemed like I hit my fingers in the scope when I grabbed the charging handle.
Even with an oversized one.

When I setup the LOP and eye relief for me, the ocular was always right over the charging handle.

I see a bunch of you all talking about 73 ELDMs in an AR-15 in 223/5.56. Can I ask what your powder loads are? I have never loaded anything past 55 and those are slightly compressed.

Larger charging handle helps if yer hands are on the large side

I’ve had larger ones before and they helped, but it didn’t seem to eliminate it.

I've had Swarovski LPVOs on ARs, which have a massive ocular, and currently have a Minox ZP-5 on one. Just pulled that one out to look at geometries - I've had zero problems getting to the charging handle from either side with any scopes, and can't see how it'd be a problem with an ocular...

...unless I try to do it with a finger on each ear of the charging handle.

Could that be what's going on here?

Look at that pic I sent you yesterday. Where the scope lands.

Although for a gun with a light that will stay inside 200yrds and be used by all...Why you dont just put a red dot on the thing I do not know.

My scope has always been farther back than that.

And the red dot is also something for me to consider.
I already have an LPVO.

And it’s been a while since I’ve had an AR so I don’t recall trying it any other way.
Not saying that I haven’t tried it, but I don’t recall.

As per usual, I’m the weak link in the system.

Not sure why and never really thought about it.

For just smacking shit, a red dot is badass and so easy to use.


I think I have a ruger ar556 upper floating around somewhere..

That’s why I asked. Pinch the left side lever with your thumb and middle of your index finger. Use your index finer like a hook and pinch your thumb to it. Pull back, release.

Unless you have a fixed stock on it, there’s little reason to set your scope up for LOP and eye relief. Most ARs have a multi position stock so that you can adjust your length of pull where needed. Set your scope eyepiece inline or just a touch forward or the charging handle and your issues would probably go away. That’s how I was taught to set mine up by much more experienced guys than me. It’s worked well so far on each rifle I’ve set up.

Speaking of not wanting to set myself up for problems, how much room do I need to have between the barrel and handguard to run a 3" OTB suppressor (either my Raptor 8 or potentially an OG Triple 6 in the future)? Is a 13" handguard on a 16" barrel enough, or do I need a margin of error?
