How to get my suppressor to Colorado for an elk hunt?????

The obvious answer is to keister it across state lines.
Ded. Straight up 🤣

I've traveled through states with a handgun where carry wasn't allowed. I kept it in a small safe for deniability. That said, have you considered calling the state patrol in the states you are passing through? You might get the right answer from the people that care the most.

Find nipple that will screw on to said suppressor. Attach a rubber hose. Run hose away from anything hot but out of view in the engine bay. Lay suppressor in engine bay. Go on about your business
Best option so far. I would add : Strap it to some other rubber hose with a couple zip ties. Sprinkle some dust on it. Maybe a little sign that says “These are not the droids you’re looking for”. Don’t forget extra zip ties for the trip home.

Pull your air filter, tape it inside the box under the filter and hit the road, jack. If a statie pulls your air filter on the side of the interstate, you’ve got bigger problems. I’ve heard of people hiding things here in another life.

Honestly though, I’m from the same state as you, mine would be in the bottom of a duffel bag. If it ever got to the point that they’re dumping your stuff out on the side of the road you’ve already done about 100 things wrong. Set the cruise, don’t speed, and don’t worry about it. You are not legally (federally) in the wrong.

I guess I must be some kind of outlaw because I don’t understand why you’re so worried about this.

Do you get pulled over often for no reason? Are your plates associated with a warrant?

For f sake, put the damn thing in your bag and go hunt.
I think, sort of like shooting copper, it's a matter of principles. Unfounded concern doesn't really factor. Everyone's hills are different, but most people have ones they are willing to die on.

I've driven through Illinois several times with my suppressor in the vehicle. Even got pulled over for speeding through Chicago. Cop was nice, we talked about hunting. He never asked about a suppressor, nor did he feel compelled to search my truck. Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it unless you're brandishing it to every car you pass, there's nothing to fear.

I would call NY State & Illinois directly and ask - and then look up the ATF rule and familiarize yourself with that. DO NOT take anyones word for it.

Here is a good place to look for answers -

Common sense says that unless something bananas happened, odds of someone finding it is low - but - get the wrong interaction on the wrong day and you are in a 50k legal battle that you might lose - then lose the ability to have firearms at all if you are convicted of a felony.

Worried, leave it home and bring some earplugs

Open a PO Box at the UPS store in Craig, CO and mail it to yourself. They will accept the package and hold it for you. Mail it back to your home address when done hunting and close out the PO Box.

I'm from Mass, I've driven multiple times from Mass through NY and Illinois out west with items that may not have been "Kosher" in either state. Keep it locked, separated from firearms and ammo. In a roof box or in the back of the truck separated from the driver compartment, and out of sight out of mind in another duffle bag.

The reality is most cops have better things to do than get a burr up their ass about some dude going on a hunting trip if you get stopped. And despite these states being really blue, a lot of the LE that I've run across are pretty "Red" normal dudes.

You're more likely to get wiped out in a major traffic accident or killed by a random pack of wolves...

If it really bugs you, ship it to/from an FFL.
Really only the very large cities in both states are blue, stay out of NYC and Chicago and one shouldn’t have an issue.
