How many broadheads do you take

on a minimum week long trip for elk? How many if you have tags for deer and elk in your pocket?

I take 6 on an elk only hunt, and 9 if I have two tags. Just broadheads, I take a dozen arrows.

I'm curious after paging through the what broadhead are you hunting this year thread and so many guys are running $30 apiece broadheads. Over the course of a season, I'll lose or destroy 4-5 broadheads between Indiana whitetails and a couple of western hunts. I'm not making any sort of judgement or statement, just curious.

Last question. How many broadheads will you ruin chasing one grouse because you can't help yourself?

My first time going west I am taking 3 175 grain Cutthroats and 3 175 grain Zwickey's and 4 judo heads for Grouse( shootin at) and Stump killin' and a total of 10 arrows . I lost two broad heads last year on white tails, one in a whitetail doe's neck, dropped her like a sack of taters but mangled my head and one on rock on the other side a very fast old doe.

5 arrows in the quiver all with BH's. I stopped shooting grouse a few years ago.

If I were to use more than 2 or 3 tops in a season, I'd head home and sell off my archery gear.

I'm taking 6 in my quiver for elk, 10 day backpack hunt. If 6 isn't enough, I'm heading home and selling the gear like 5 Milesback said :)

Rarely do I wreck an arrow or broad head on whitetails around home or traveling. They are usually stuck in the ground. Wash off, replace blades or sharpen depending on the head and back in the quiver.

I wish I didn't kill off as many BH's as I do. The two farms I hunt in Indiana have a lot of rocks and pass through shots from treestands tend to find them. I'll qualify this a little by saying I shoot 6-8 doe deer a year to keep my farmer friends happy. Then I usually do deer/elk in MT, and elk somewhere else.

Out west, I lose them from pass through shots where the arrow burrows and I just can't find it. There are a couple that are a permanent part of a tree as well. Thankfully, I've not lost many to outright misses, but it will happen. I'm 100% hits on elk, but mule deer are closer to 80%. I don't think I've ever recovered an arrow after a clean miss.

I will be elk hunting for 13 or 14 days this year, with another few chasing mule deer on the way home. I will have a full dozen arrows and heads...if I didn’t have back up bow and quiver in the truck I would toss a few more in for good measure.

If I am packing in, I am taking a quiver full plus a reload in my pack. There have been years With hunts that were one arrow affairs too where I had to dig up and look for shot arrows and heads..... for me it worth having some extra.

I was waiting for 5MB to answer, "one". So disappointed.

I take 5 in my 5 arrow quiver. Never really considered taking more, until now. Sometimes you guys just give me more things to be paranoid about.
