Home gym setup?

I got nothing on lots of you guys. I have a rowing machine, a set of good kettle bells, and dumbells in my office along with a pull up bar.

I use an old school, 23 year old, original Bow Flex on old carpet squares and two Walmart kettle bells. I am looking for another pull up/dip station as I gave my last one away to a friend. Bow Flex works well for what I need when I do it correctly, plus I have a great trail system right out the back gate of my yard with a tiered storm runoff area for training and rucking. The gym at work is going to be free soon so I may use certain equipment there if I can fit it into my schedule. I can also use the gym at our police department where I am a chaplain but right now working out at 4 am works well for me. You all have some cool setups.

I worked in several gyms as a trainer and manager for over a decade. If you’re any good with a welder you can weld and drill the frame and get it powder coated what ever color you like locally near you. If you choose to buy I recommend treating gym equipment like a buy once cry once thing. I still go to the gym but I have an Elite FTS rack bench and barbell and I love it. Simple and solid! You can do a lot with just those things. If I add to it will be dumbbells. But if you have land and deep pockets you can build your own iron paradise.

Gym equipment can be had for steep discounts second hand. First, dumbbell/barbell technology is not changing. Second, people don’t want to move them. I would check out craigslist, offer up, facebook market place, maybe rokslide even has some postings in the classifieds. Also if a gym is going out of business in your area or looking to upgrade the equipment. Just some ideas.

In my basement, a room about 14’x17’. Horse stall mats on the floor. Rep batwing adjustable bench, Schwinn IC4 bike, iron master adjustable dumbbells and kettlebells, resistance bands, rogue barbells, fringe bumper plates, trueform trainer, some other odds and ends equipment. Still waiting on my rep ares 2.0 functional trainer/rack.

I have a Bowflex Max Trainer 6 and Treadmill. I also have weights and a pull up and dip setup. It’s nice when the WY winter hits to be able to exercise at home.

I have a rowing machine which is currently in storage at my parents. Aside from that I have -

Pull-up bar
Kettlebells(various weights)
Dumbbells(various weights)
Weight vest
30# sandbag
Resistance bands.

Question for you lot. My heaviest kettlebell is a 35lbs, my heaviest dumbbell is a 30lbs. I'm slowly looking to increase the weights I have - should I first start to get a 2nd of my 35 lbs KB/30 lbs DB(to create a pair) or should I go for something in the 50ish lbs range? I do have a set of 20lbs on both the KB/DB.
