Hike Vs Bike

I did a 2.25 mile, with 1400’ of gain, hike in for an overnighter a couple weeks ago. There were a bunch of sections that were too steep to peddle. Then the bike just becomes a liability. Trying to peddle up 1400’ sounds absolutely miserable to me…but then again I’m 65 y/o so ymmv 😂

Hike, less variables, more flexibility, slower pace to keep an eye out for additional sign. The vertical shouldn't be an issue as you'll need to be prepared for it when hunting season arrives.

I pack a camp in on my bike, roughly 5 miles and 1000 vert on a a gated road. Unloaded it takes me an hour to climb the climb. With a load it can take up to 2 hours. Just to give you some idea.

That is super helpful! Thank you. I have the oppurtunity to practice that route this weekend if I wanted to. I will not even try it haha.
