Griz in the Big Horn Basin

Looks like G bears are heading east. Spotted outside Gebo, WY (just south of Worland). Won’t be too long before they are in the Bighorns, it they are not already there. WFGD was present and verified it was indeed a grizzly.

I used to live in Greybull. Was always surprised they rarely trekked across the basin considering the high densities in the absarokas. Is only a matter of time.

Yea, there was one around Tensleep recently. Article was in the High Country News, I believe.

Slightly off topic, but I figure someone here might know. I see where MT is relocating (or has?) a couple grizzlies to WY for genetic diversity. We have North Continental Divide grizz and Greater Yellowstone grizz. Is there a noticable difference? What is this all about? I can't imagine those two ecosystems are very far apart.

It's about taking away an argument for griz expansion used by the anti-hunting crowd. If the states ensure genetic diversity by transporting between populations, there is no valid argument for allowing the populations to expand throughout the interposing land.
