Yeah,…that door swings both ways. Anyone that isn’t shooting a 6mm (or smaller) Tikka barreled action dropped into a Rokstok with a Maven scope, UM rings, and a suppressor gets rewarded with condescension at best and open ridicule at worst on this site.

And before you make any assumptions, let me assure you I was killing chit with TMKs long before most of you had ever heard of them.
I don't know if this necessarily holds true, although maybe I'm missing stuff I don't see. I personally hunt with a CZ and a custom built off a Remington action, one of which has an MOA scope, and no one has ever been condescending about it, as far as I can remember.

Now if you come into the 223 thread and say they won't make it through a whitetail shoulder, or post in a drop test thread that there's nothing to Leupolds and Vortex' not holding zero, then yes, there is pushback.

Again, maybe there's things going on that I don't see. There is certainly a club who rapidly aquires all recommended items. Whether it's justified or not, I can't say. With having 4 kids and being the sole wage earner in the family, I have to do my upgrades over time, lol.....

I used to listen to JVB's podcasts regularly when he would mainly discuss cartridge history, firearms history, and the like. Then he started going pretty heavy with Spomer and I had enough. Spomer seems like a decent guy but he is factual wrong so often that I just can't listen to him. Then the AVB situation went down last year and JVB started deleting episodes where he spoke about some of the stupid sh!t his brother had done. He became pretty cringe to me after that and I unsubscribed from his show on all platforms. Now he's beefing with the piss-ants, the Formie's, and Steve 'n the Boys over at EXO. He's denounced small calibers more than he denounced his own brother's involvement in '23 BOAL incident. His credibility continues to dwindle after every incident he becomes involved in.

Spomer and JVB are no different than any gatekeeper of any set of sanctified knowledge - they are the Priesthood, those who may anoint followers; Keepers of the Faith.

It's a universal human dynamic, found in every culture, in every tribe, in every group with specialized knowledge.

When you question them, or provide contradictory evidence over that which they are authorities, gatekeepers and The Priesthood treat you as they always do, no matter what fields of religion, science, or hobby:

They see you as a heretic, and respond with the righteousness of a zealot, trying to cleanse you of your sins before your apostasy can infect their flock.

They usually are the last to fall when presented with new knowledge, often only after their flock has fled.

Man, if the fudds/mall ninja dude is funny to yall, I can't imagine how bad jvb is.

I'm trying to listen to him and he talks so slow I fall asleep before he finishes the sentence.

Gotta be upper Midwest, needs some pep in that dialect.

Same. No idea what that guy’s content is like, I can’t make it that far.

I ain't saying it to be mean, it just makes it hard for this Appalachian, I'm sure some of y'all would struggle to understand me in real life.
I worked with a guy from Africa one time. Hew was from “the woods” like myself. Just half a world between us.
Damn near had to have chalk boards around our necks to carry on a conversation.
Been there. 😁

I have been listening to hunting and shooting podcasts for probably 10 years. Shooooot I remember Gritty Bowmen when Aaron and Brian could actually be in the same room together (still don't know what happened there). I have listened to almost the entire collection of JVB's works as well as many of the others.

It IS very entertaining to see the gloves come off and the opinions fly on these topics. For me, I don't know that I'm on the small caliber bandwagon. I also think many of these "Fudd" types don't give the small calibers enough credit. I think bullet construction tech has come a LOOOOOOOOOONG way and many of the previously "inadequate" cartridges are now hitting above their weight class. I get where JVB is coming from and for the newer or inexperienced fellers, Small caliber might be a poor direction to have them considering for Elk or tougher game. I have seen the failures of match grade bullets though, especially the light and fast variety. For me personally, if I am going to go with a lighter caliber or cartridge, I really do like the solids. Just extra insurance for penetration. I don't know what is right but I know what I have seen and believe. I like the Patriot Valley Bullets "Cayuga". I urge anyone to check those out and shoot them. I have personally witnessed those bullets crushing anything they are shot at. Have yet to see an animal walk away from a Cayuga.
