The AVB's and Spomer's in this industry are far too entrenched to pull a 180 now. To do so would completely alienate their entire audience from the last 3 decades. And would also require their narcissism to take a back seat to critical thought and humility (NOT HAPPENING). They will continue to pander to their faithful believers in "oomph" "wallop" and "authority", all while staying deep within the comforts of the echo chambers they took so long to build. Aren't they bored yet?? I know if I'd spent THAT long, and had literally "seen it all" it would be time for me to move on to something else.

Rokslide - JVB is so dumb. How can he even put these podcasts out?

JVB - Wow my downloads are up 50% because all the people that think I am dumb are downloading my podcast. I am a marketing genius.

Controversy sells.
Yep. From my interactions with AVB he’s comes across as an egotist, so in his mind all the people disagreeing are dumb. It’s a win win for him.

That being said, I think people on the other extreme are equally egotistical and feel the same way about listeners. It’s 2 camps that are on opposite sides of the spectrum but think exactly the same way. I’m smart, they’re dumb. Then there’s 90% of us in the middle…

F em , there are plenty of cutting edge writers out there, if you’re offended by spomer or other people just tune them out and don’t listen or watch them
I try to keep a open mind on hunting discussions
But I am a old man (57) and have seen fads come and go
In the 60’s & 1970’s the cutting edge was lite for caliber, hyper fast ( 90 gr .270 @ 3500fps ) & magnum stuff with cup & core , nosler partition was a premium bullet,
80’s & 90’s the mono metal stuff was being tested
Now the fad is small caliber and heavy target bullets for hunting ! And 6.5 mm everything. ( old news for 6.5 swed & 6.5-284 Norma, .264wm shooters)
But I do agree that those VB twins are completely annoying pompous queens
And just usually ignore their fluff

I 100% agree and usually do ignore them. At least now I do! I got suckered in by the nonsense at first. And it took me a while to find Rokslide! And that's the problem. New hunters and shooters who are looking for advice are EASILY duped. And these guys are very persuasive to the FNG who is looking for guidance, and about to spend, for most people, is a substantial amount of money.

I have to give Spomer a little credit. He does talk highly of the 7-08 and 243 and periodically using lower recoil rifles for better shot placement. From the stuff I've heard from him, he still prefers a 7mm RM for elk and moose, but he makes it seem like it's more of his preference and not an absolute. JVB pushes Barnes bullets, browning rifles, Leupold scopes and bigger is better making it sound like nothing else works. That's why I've moved more towards unsponsored podcasts like Exo and Mindful Hunter for a little more unbiased information.

Agree... there may still be hope for Spomer.

JVB refusing to have a discussion with Form tells you everything you need to know.

If your position can’t be defended against opinions of the contrary in a long form conversation, then perhaps you’re incorrect. I know, that would take humility in the sense of detachment from your ideas for pursuit of the truth.

HAHA! No. One of them uses anonymity to remove the ILLUSION of authority, so it's not polluting the data.
IDK if that’s why he remains anonymous. We can wait for the man himself to weigh in but it’s not like he doesn’t carry authority and get labelled an expert anyway. Those “authority” and “expert” labels are tied to his username, not his real name. And since he’s using his username consistently and across platforms it’s not like he’s trying to avoid associating with the labels he’s gotten.

I for one don't understand the push back on keeping one's anonymity. Don't many of us do that on here?
Are you saying fwafwow is not your full legal name? I for one am appalled that you have a username on a forum different than your own. I can no longer take anything you say seriously.

@ExoMtnGear can you please have Form there as well if you are going to do a podcast with JvB?
Honestly, based on the last EXO podcast, it sounds like Steve will stand up for small calibers either way. I love how JVB had to speak about how Steve and Mark were "inexperienced". Seems to me they have plenty of experience and have the DATA to back up their experiences, vs JVB's anecdotes.

He has stated it for himself that this is the reason. All we have is that. I for one will choose to believe that until I have a reason not to.
