I do occasionally, but generally get in trouble for straying from the canned questions from HR that everyone and their brother has a prepped answer for. Waste of my time.

Yup. 100%. I’ve been on several hiring committees, I came to realize that they don’t want my opinion, they just want me to agree on the same candidate as them. Now I don’t waste my time.

Screw the savings to me. Let’s look at the tax payer savings.

We are building a new HR/Admin building. Bids aren’t back yet, but the last building we built similar in specs was a clean 27 million. That doesn’t include the on going maintenance costs and energy costs. We are strapped on maintenance personnel, and are looking at hiring a couple more due to three new buildings going up. Just got notification that energy prices are increasing 13% starting July 1.

That entire building will be housing people that could work 100% from home. I can’t remember the exact number but I think it’s about 100 people.

Edit to add. You could give all 100 employees an extra 2500 a year to offset the cost of a home office and the break even point on just the initial cost of the building is 108 years. At year 108, we will be looking at knocking that building down and rebuilding for the second time.

Do you want me to go into the new parking terrace that is being built so we have enough parking? Or the land that is looking at be purchased to continue building because we are running out of space?

I see the government inefficiency 40 hours a week. I am all for holding people accountable. Many in my office, including our director are completely worthless. But let’s not pretend like making people come into an office will suddenly change anything. I work 100% in the office, it’s the same thing that people complain about with remote employees.

I get it. My wife is a fed employee. Has worked predominantly in the office (or in the field depending on season). Main exception has been meetings that many people from her office need to attend. Her and others that live close go home because the office internet can’t support very many people on video meetings at once. Now there will be a few more people in the office full time (though sounds like a few will quit and not be replaced). She works with some serious dead weight, but I’ll be pretty surprised if those people actually get weeded out. They have the most to lose, since finding a job in the private sector will require some effort. I have my doubts she’ll stay where she’s at for this shit show. She won’t take the BS “buyout”, but might find something else when everything shuts down in March or whenever the next CR is due. I’d be shocked if there isn’t a prolonged shutdown.

simply pull the N95 down a little and take a couple deep breaths.

tell all of your cats you love them and everything will be alright.

grab the remote and turn off CNN.

now go outside and go get a hike in…

I promise it will help…
After reading his posts I hope comcast kicks me off this site again like they did last week. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

We are facing cuts at the State level. I really hope they offer some early retirement options as there are a few in my office that would take it and it would be nice to get them out.

Unfortunately, my boss is about 2-3 years from being able to contemplate early retirement and he is probably the biggest chunk of dead weight we have.

The view statements just so how well some people have been programmed to think of anyone with any sort of a nuanced viewpoint as something wildly different from themselves. Meanwhile it’s just ordinary people while the people nothing like them convince them they are one and the same.

😂 difference between ranting and pointing at something that’s really happening and asking people to be informed about what is happening to their country. Nothing I’ve said has been shown to be false, nor has anyone mounted a real defense of what’s happening.
