Narrow road, body and paint damage during Elk hunt

Id look into vinyl wrap. Cheaper than a paint job. Lasts 2+ years depending on which one you pick and completely protects your paint job.

The Side by side route is something I've long considered for this exact purpose. Plus, it seems like it would get you in so much further than a truck would after snow/rain. They're just so expensive I can't seem to justify one yet.

Does anyone use an electric motorcycle for this sort of thing? Have you found any success hauling gear on them? Or are they subpar to a truck, SXS, or 4 wheeler?

Like others have said, you could buy a cheap roll of 3m vinyl and slap it on there in 1 hour. Peel it when you get home.

You could also tape off a section and spray on some plastidip. Give it a good heavy coat and it's easier to remove.

Both of these options would be under $100 and totally removeable afterwards.

ATV/UTV is definitely at the top of my wish list right now. Space is tight though. I even had to bribe my daughter to clear a little corner in her room just so I could store some of my hunting gear and clothes!

Hopefully when we move to a bigger place soon and finally have room for everything.

Right on! Some good relatively inexpensive options to protect your paint job in this thread for sure and sounds like good way to go!! Have a great hunt! 👍

I took my wife’s new truck on a goat hunt. It got all scratched up but I did get the goat so whatever. Memories for a lifetime. Truck probably wont be on the road in 5-10 years. I’m over it 😂🤷

Ahhhh…the old make your camp at the turn around at a dead end road. I curse you on behalf of everyone else that plans to use that road during hunting season.
I was gonna say something but he mentions an open space so hopefully he means he'd setup off the actual turnaround. I dropped my offroad pop-up two years ago to drive into a spot just like that, glad I did too because at the end of the culdesac was two wall tents and three trucks taking up the whole turnaround. Still took some maneuvering to get my truck turned around. You just never know, never even seen a truck parked in that spot before much less a camp. Crazy because I can get the pop-up off the road there tucked into the brush out of the way (a horse trailer came through once) but these guys just setup their tents in the turnaround.

Yep. Been there many times. Then they all mean mug you as you walk through camp like they own the effing forest behind camp.

If you’re passing by in the morning and hear the grinder going, that’s not a bear chewing on metal, it’s just coffee time! Swing by and grab a fresh cup before the caffeine wears off and I turn back into a grumpy elk 🤣

We hunted Wyoming years ago, that tall Sage destroyed my buddies Ram. Before we left for the trip, I said I would drive no worries. He insisted he drive his newer Ram. OK, it looked like it was getting prepped for a bed liner before we were done hunting. Needless to say, he prefers if I drive now. But this is really the way to go. Hauls all the gear and elk no problem.

The roads I drive in Montana scratches the crap out of your truck, just no way around it. I've been renting a full size crew cab Dodge 3/4 ton with an 8 foot bed. They are work trucks that crews use to fight fires and they are dirty and all ready scratched up just the way I want it. I return it bloody, dusty and scratched and so far they have never said a word.
