I think the 6.5-06 for a handloader it pretty tough to beat.

I was always a 30-06 guy (150gr boat tail) but got a 6.5-300 WBY last year and this thing is a machine!

I got a tikka t3 in 25-06 that I bought for deer but haven't been successful YET. hopefully soon.
