I have been busting my butt all summer, hoping to get down to 175 prior to hunting season. Did heavy weights mixed with cardio from Feb 1 til June 1, and then switched to mainly cardio and core from June til August due to training for a triathlon. Successfully completed my first triathlon, have taken this week off as a reward/well deserved rest. Have been in the the gym or pool or beating pavement 4-5 days a week.

Diet wise I am having a very light breakfast, protein bar n fruit or veg for lunch, and wildgame n green veg for dinner. I have allowed myself to have a cheat meal or two on the weekends along with a few beers or a bourbon.

I am excited to be heading in to this fall in better shape that the last three, but wont be going west to the mountains this year because my sister is getting married Sept 21.........

I’m 6’2” 219# I can’t even imagine being 180# I would look like a crack head. I lost 89# over two year period and use to climb 600 to 800 ft towers daily at 260#. At 219# with a 33 waist I’m thinking my goal now is to be around 16% fat and 200# and turn my two pack into six pack.

219 this am so not much progress, although this is the first time I have been under 220 this year on a morning weigh in where I didn't work out the night before. I did do 12 miles on the bike but it was easy and didn't sweat much.

Finished my hill climb last weekend, but really enjoyed the boston area food too much. 2 hours and 10 minutes but no stopping, no quit. BTW these are mountains in NH. I was impressed. Obviously not high altitude like elk hunters are used to seeing, but almost 5000 feet from base to top is nothing to sneeze at.

Bike race in South Dakota next weekend, so hope to drop a few more between now and then.
Have had a bunch of Sacral joint pain the last two weeks, so riding has been fun. Stems from an injury 25 years ago in my 20's. Flares up every now and then, but starting to feel better the last few days.

Throwing in a few pics of the weekend. The rider on the road is not me. Just a cool pic and shows the altitude. Hill was no joke. 4700 feet in 7.6 miles. It never let up and never gave you a break. Good thing fat guys have strong legs....lol. Had lobster a couple of times. Pic inserted is lobster mac....enough to literally feed all three of us and we threw out about half of it.

About a month ago I shot back up but got on top of my food again and shrunk down. Have been eating a very light dinner and cut my calories back to around 2200. Also doing 70lb pack hikes most weeks in addition to lifting and cardio.

217 today and no workout at all last night to cheat the weight. Leave for bike race Thurs and elk woods in 22 days. Hope to drop a few more before both. Ive lost 17 total since spring. Slower than I like but still coming off.

Going to look at a "new to me" mountain bike tonight so will skip supper and maybe drop off a few more.

One more quick and easy ride tomorrow then off I go.

Well, between not doing anything for 5 years when I developed pinched nerves in my shoulder turned a cut 5'11" 195 lb guy into a 63 yr old 225lb load with high mileage. Have an elk tag for the last week of September/Wyoming. Want to get below 200. Hoping accountability helps.

I struggled for months until I stopped drinking (at least during the week). In the past few weeks I've increased the number of hikes. Sometimes with a pack 20 to 25lbs depending on how hot it is. It was in the mid to high 80's and humid. The vertical is about 800 ft. Round trip is 4.7 miles. Times average from 1hr 24min to 1hr 35min. Weighed in this morning at 212.6. Want to be around 200 by the time I start my drive to Wyoming on 9/28 for the 10/4 hunt start.

Back from my trip. Got down to 205 which I consider a success. Thanks for the support and good luck to everyone.

Finally under 215 but still a ways to go before hitting my goal of 200. Workouts have been sort of a hot mess with little to no structure, but I've been active every day between putting miles on the bike, running, lifting, etc. Going scouting again this weekend in MT instead of hunting ND, then the archery elk hunt starts 9/7. Feeling so much better than this time last year.

EDIT - I splurged on a pair of large FL Obsidians to replace my XL's. Holy crap these things fit well. No more MC Hammer style now that my waist fits in the large. There will be some XL Obsidians hitting the classifieds soon.

216 today. Headed to sd for a bike race tomorrow so will be hydrating pretty heavily. Diet has been on point all week for once.

I did pull the trigger on the new bike but cant pick it up till next week. New bikes always motivate me...lol.

Almost exactly 2 months in from starting and i am down 19lbs, maybe by the exact 2 months it will be 20 lbs.

Been on keto and keeping to it, 100 push ups a day at work, hiking w/ weight, running bleachers w/weight, walks with the family w/weight walking to work more than not as well as just eating rite and drinking water mostly has done well. Goal was to hit or break 200# by 11/10, i think i got this.

Keep up the great work guys, hunting is upon us

Im going to join in on this as I feel like a visual will help me keep losing weight. Im 5'11' 23y/o 6/3/19 I was 213 in an ideal world 185 by next September but short term goal is ruck more just so I don't sweat as bad getting to the tree moderate lifting incorporated. In a year or more training will get more serious with western hunts being planned.

8/5/19-207lbs
8/29/19-210lbs (down from 214 with drink lots of beer..college.)

Still holding at 216 ish. Did fall off a bit yesterday but did manage to get some hill repeats in with the pack. My mtb race didn't go off. I got to SD, got one warmup ride and a family issue came up so had to return on Sat. All is well, but I think I overreacted. Better safe than sorry I guess. Good news is my sacral joint is feeling better, and did get to see my mom and brother for a couple of days. Also met up with a HS friend for a mtb ride, mostly downhill. However he is a mountain goat.

That said, I'd rather miss a bike race than an elk hunt.

I have been loading up my new Eberelestock mainframe backpack with about 50 lbs of weight and walking the dog for a mile or so every night with it on. Get some pretty curious looks from the neighbors! currently at 200 lbs with a goal of 180 lbs by the time I am about dead most likely. :p

Stalled at high 180's for a bit and tweaked the nutrition plan 2 weeks ago. Last 3 days weighed in @ 183#. Looks to me like what I want my body fat% at will put me around 175 in the end. So, 6' and started the year @ 215. Strength now is slightly lower @ 183 but not more than 5-10% overall. Hopefully I can gain that back. Congrats to all who are continuing to work at this.

Did pack training more this week than in all my life, if I'm being honest. 5 training hikes. Had one hunting partner who could only go in the mornings and one who could only go in the evenings, I tried to accommodate both, and it paid off!
