How do you like the CAT Johnny Law? Really been wanting to get one.
Quietest 30 cal suppressor I’ve ever used or been around. I have had people sitting right next to the gun with no hear protection comment how ridiculously quiet it is.

My last buck had roughly 4-5 does with him. They didn’t even move when I shot, they just looked over at him as he kicked back.

The downside to being quiet is the length - it’s also the longest suppressor I own. But it’s titanium and I chopped my barrel to 20” knowing I’d suppress it so I’m okay with the overall length. Just something to be mindful of

Had an interesting comparison this year. My hunting partner and me were both shooting 6.5 prc, him 147 around 2725 and mine 140 at 2775. We both shot similar sized blacktail, whitetail and mule deer and after seeing all of them dressed and skinned we noticed a trend of the 140 making more "mess" having a similar sized hole through ribs but a larger area of bloodshot to remove. Small sample but I'll probably switch to the 147s when I run out of 140s

I have used the 105 A-Max in my 243 for years and always had great results. This year I’m running the 208 ELD-M in my 300 WM. I’ve been really impressed with the terminal performance. Bullet fragments and most of the time I get an exit. 7 deer this year and not one animal has moved after the shot.

Form was telling me the same. The 140 has a better wound profile supposedly. 147 has been absolutely phenomenal for me as well as the 88.

Those 208s out of a 300wm are bad medicine.

Is there a minimum velocity you want to keep these above? I’ve seen 1800 fps thrown around. Factory 130g, 260 rem is what working with.

Shot two whitetail doe with 147s at 2900 out of my 20" 6.5 PRC this weekend. First one was at 192 yards, neck/shoulder junction, dropped in her tracks. Neck fragments on the exit and on the ground. Next one was 132 yards, both lungs and the top of the heart. She took two steps and dropped. I took a 14 yr old from church that had never been hunting. He had shot his dad's AR out to 300 on steel, so I had him dry fire the rifle several times before we left the truck.12-9-24 202.JPG12-9-24 214.JPG12-9-24 220.JPG12-9-24 221.JPG12-9-24 225.JPG12-9-24 226.JPG12-9-24 235.JPG12-9-24 236.JPG

Just adding some clarification to the question. Hornady states the the ELD-X has effective terminal performance up to velocities of approximately 1,600 fps. Is there any insight on the ELD-M?

I have seen an ELDX that was recovered after a 1600 fps impact and it barely deformed the tip. I would use 1800 as my minimum on both bullets.

Hornady defines minimum terminal velocity where 1.5x's caliber expansion is seen in gel.

Anyone with experience with the ELDM on an animal below 100 yards?
25 SAUM
134gr ELD-M
3260 FPS
Shot was at maybe 30 yards. Bang ❗️ Flop ❗️.

Picture is the impact side. Bullet was just under the hide on the off side.

108 eld-m out of a 6 arc (hogs) and 243(elk) have done very well for me with both hogs and a elk.

impact velocity on elk was around 2500 fps. One round went in through the meat on the back side of shoulder into the rib cage and didn't make it out the farside side. Other shot broke a rib on the way in and also didn't exit. Bull went 7 yards and piled up.

No carnage pictures but as a recent convert, this season provides ample evidence: ELD-M's do indeed work.

Cow elk @ 185, 168 ELD-M
WT Buck @ 160, 168 ELD-M (grabbed the wrong rifle on the way out the door in the AM... See below)
WT doe at 190, 73 ELD-M (223 works as well)

Those are some great pictures! I will be trying the 168gr ELDM out of a 308 for black bear this spring.
just started using them in a new 308, have a whitetail buck at 175 that went 15, an antelope buck at 200 drt and a big cow moose at 275 also drt, moose was up for 2 (1 through lungs - 2 steps/stopped, 2nd through shoulders and down) and then she tried to get up a minute later before the bicycling started and got one more into her (spine above shoulders) which kicked off the final bicycle ride (no bullets recovered so far)

had been using 123gr eldm (same bc/sd as the 308 168gr) in 6.5 grendel for 7 seasons now and 10-420 yards over 21 animals and 7 species in Alberta and average shot distance around 170 and average recovery distance ~10 yards

they are murder bullets lol
