Which Bullets to use? ELD-m "Murder bullets" for everything?

Looks like a missed another good one. Ha
Not really, just another steadfast believer that it takes a 30 cal to kill anything bigger than a deer because he shot a "1,300"lb Nilgai and it ran and ironically still required a follow up shot, or something.

Small sample but the 1 off performance I've personally had with the ELD-M was a 162 out of a 280 AI- MV 2850, shot a bull frontal in the brisket slightly downward angle at 330, and while it incapacitated him and sent him to the bottom of the draw, when I got to him he did require a follow up shot to dispatch. It blew a volleyball sized hole in his neck/chest junction but didn't appear to do much damage to vital organs past that. I guess this could be the "splashy" result people talk about?

I think there is some in the 223 thread, not sure on impact velocities though
I know people have used them but most have been with impact velocity above 2200 that I have found.
The reason I'm asking is cause I'm using a short barrel rifle and my MV is 2500 and IMV is 1835 at 350. Just asking if its a good system inside that range. Headed out Friday with it.

All the same best performing projectiles at 20” are good at sub 10”. 69 and 77gr TMK, 73gr ELD-M, 62gr Fusion; 55, 62, and 75gr Speer Gold dots, etc etc. As long as impact velocity is about what is required foremost- the bullet has no idea what barrel length it was shot from. Even some heavier varmint bullets start work like a normal expanding version at sub 2,500fps impact.
Don’t overthink it. There’s plenty of information around that the 73 works like all the other ELD-M’s. You know what distance you drop to 1800, so you have the info you need to go hunt and report back 👌🏼
