Eggs are expensive. Have you changed your breakfast because of it? What are you eating?

I think most meat chickens are killed at 6 weeks old or so, whereas it takes a lot longer to grow an egg producing chicken. So the rebound if you exterminate a flock (which seems like the wrong way to do it but not my decision) is quicker with a 6 week harvest than however long it takes egg producers to mature.

This. Plus you can’t repopulate an entire laying hen farm at once. The large million plus hen farms are brought back into production in stages.

We have chickens but they are just starting to lay again. Don't keep them under lights. Currently buy them at Sam's. I think they are about $25 for 5 dozen. That last about 2 weeks at my house.

My hens are starting to lay again now that daylight is getting longer and temps are warming up a bit.. Might actually pay for themselves this year. I eat eggs daily.

Yes. My kids are selling our eggs for $5 a dozen instead of $3.

Not an issue here in western Montana as there are several self serve roadside coolers with eggs for four bucks a dozen, all within a mile or two of my house. Additionally, my wife can get them from a co-worker for three bucks a dozen. No worries...

I eat four eggs a day for protein with Sam's Club guacamole. I buy fancy organic eggs so I pray a premium for sure but I may have to go to local eggs if the prices keep climbing....

Getting 10 to a dozen a day and still picking up. Should be getting about 16-18 a day. Just hatched out 30 chicks over the weekend. Was gonna sell them as chicks but polts were selling for 50.00 at the chicken auction gonna grow them out and sell them

My wife has 5 hens in the coop in the back yard. They have been averaging 2 eggs a day throughout the winter, just starting to average 3 eggs a day in the past week.
