I’ve had two encounters with non hunters while on the trail. One was with dogs and they asked us not to shoot their dogs then laughed. We were polite and everyone walked away with a smile on their face. The other encounter was odd, 5 women and one guy. One of the women wanted her picture taken with my buddy and I. We declined and moved on.

Sounds like the guy we know who organizes new weekly hikes that my wife goes on with her extended group of lady friends lot of the times when Daddy takes to the woods. I could TOTALLY see those ladies doing a pic thing, ha!

This wouldn't happen to be in the OC, CA would it? :)

When I was about 5 I was hiking with my dad down the trail back to the jeep, a big dog like a German shepherd or husky walked out into the trail, my dad used his scope instead of binoculars to look at it. About a minute later a bunch of people on horses rounded the curve, we walked quietly up to them and right before we passed I blurted out “My dad almost shot your dog!” Hah I don’t remember them responding but my dad said he wanted to kill me lol. We still tell that story every year around the fire.

With eyes crossed, a little drool running out of the corner of your mouth and a voice that sounds on the spectrum, tell them that if they don't want their dog shot, they shouldn't have bought one that looks like an elk.
