Does Rinella not allow a gun to be carried on his hunts?

Maybe Jason didn’t feel the need. I don’t think Steve had a thing to do with it.
Ahh I thought you meant he had personally replied to you asking and stated no guns allowed on the show but that he didn't want to screw with removing his holster.

I dont remember the last time I watched M E'r.
I just cant relate anymore.
What part of it can't you relate to? Not attacking, just asking. I've only scratched the surface of the negatives that some posters have of ME. I enjoy it and relate, but everyone is different.

You can carry a gun while archery hunting deer too if it’s during a rifle season. Is there an archery only part of the general bear season? I meant during an archery only tag. I think some states let you carry a gun during archery only elk and deer seasons but I don’t know.
In California If you are archery hunting for deer with an archery only tag it doesn’t matter if you are hunting during the general season, you can’t carry a firearm. If you are hunting for deer during the general season with a general season tag and decided to use a bow, you can carry a firearm. There is no archery season for bear so you can carry both. For elk, you can carry a sidearm during archery season, this was changed a few years ago.

But the big thing from that episode…Steve was using an EXO pack.

There you have it gentlemen, take it from here…
Interesting about the pack. I don't want to highjack this thread so I'll probably start another post on the pack/equipment topic.

I know I saw this episode but didn't pay attention to the holster. As someone new to Western hunting, I'm still trying to figure out my viewpoints on public figures like Rinella. Trying to look at both sides. His show is one of the few that I enjoy watching. I also like that they cover not only different types of hunting but fishing and cooking as well. I can also see how some people view him and other public figures like him in a not so favorable way.

Yes there is. Archery bear season runs concurrent with archery deer season, during the archery bear season you can carry a sidearm if you are hunting bear.

.Now if you were hunting bear and deer at the same time that might be an issue depending on what game Warden you come across.

I have bear and deer tags on me all the time and carry a handgun during archery season. There's more lions than deer in the mountains. We basically breed them :ROFLMAO:. Even if I just had a deer tag I'd carry a handgun, but the bear tag makes it seem more "legit" since it's a written law I guess haha.

Oops, my bad. Thanks for the correction.

He said no guns allowed on the show and no reason for him to remove his holster from his belt.

Probably a NM rule

Not a NM rule I'm aware of. Have never read in the regs where it says you can't pack heat while on an archery hunt.

I bet because of where they were, he didn't feel the need to have a pistol, but didn't want to take the holster off. I know with my pack I hate putting on and taking crap off the hip belt.

For me it's because every hunting show is bought and paid for.

It's a damn infomercial that is presented in a different light to make people think it's something else.

I appreciated the early ME stuff I saw as it was from a different angle. It was about the hunt and what you took from it, but like everything, advertising saw its opportunity.

It's not objective, even if it's presented that way.

Is it possible Phelps didn't feel like he needed a handgun on the hunt, but also didn't feel the need to remove his holster? I don't generally move things on and off my pack unless there's a real good reason, i.e. I often wear empty hipbelt pouches.

Ding, ding, ding!

FWIW I often have a empty holster on my pack belt because I don’t always feel the need to carry a handgun and I don’t take the time (it’s a pain to remove) to take my holster off.
Same. And the most likely explanation.

Sometimes I use the empty holster to carry cool rocks or fossils I find that I think my nephews will like.

Yes for example I have my stone glacier bear spray holster and my kifaru gun sling last week when I went bird hunting and used neither. Just too lazy to take it off....

Most episodes of meat eater are gun hunts. I've seen plenty of guests carry pistols on the show and I haven't seen every episode. Clay, Remi and Janis have all carried side arms in camera on the show. I'm sure there are more.

If you Google “Steve Rinella” and click “images” you will see Mr. Meat with a plethora of “guns” being held in his very own hands. He has companies that he partners with to sell “guns” with his name on them.

The better question would be who cares what that cancer to hunting says?
Cancer on hunting? How so. I've always loved his show, really liked his book on buffalo.
