Suppressed Red Dot 12g Upland Hunting

I'm not saying anything mean about it. Now if one of you SOB's posts up pics of a sxs with a can on it. I'm goona have some opinions that will need to be shared :ROFLMAO:
Oh, I HATE it. If someone with me pulled that out I'd mock them till I died.

But it's a free country, and I like stuff others don't, so whatever.

100% agree on a suppressed double though!

No experience but use an ecollar on vibrate so it shouldnt affect that.
Ahhhh...

All ours are also field trial dogs too, so voice and whistle commands, and they are out of sight more often than not, so they have to be able to hear us sing.

Pointers...

Commands are with more of a "death may follow if you ignore" tone. Lol
yep if i have to say some thing more than once or blow the whistle more than once my lab knows a correction is coming next. The people who constantly scream and yell or say things repeatedly dont understand they are conditioning the dog to ignore you.

Had a wonderful lab that hunted with me, at the request of his breeder I named him Darth Vader(DV for short). My father in law knew him by his nickname given by me DV dammit.

I'm just a traditionalist in the uplands.

I'm not with target or big game stuff, but put me behind some dogs and I like guns to be wood and steel, canvas chaps, leather lanyards, brass...
I’ve have O/U’s and other more traditional guns and I get the charm. Enjoy it even. But one of the reasons I got this obnoxious set up is to say “Get with the times fud!” So to you I say, “Get with the times fud!”

@CodeSeven you said it’s nothing like suppressed 9mm or 5.56. Is it louder or quieter than those cartridges? Thanks for the write up! I really want a legit suppressed upland shotgun. I don’t care if it’s wood or plastic or whatever. I just want to not have to wear ear pro and to protect my dogs’ hearing.

I feel like if a good suppressed shotgun exists, it's an integral.

If I could ever shoot and handle one a bit, I'd be willing to spend the money if it worked well. The screw on ones do not work well.

What I mean is that the difference in sound from unsuppresed 5.56 to suppressed 5.56 is very very noticeable, and this is certainly not as effective I suppose. The manufacturer says 135db on a 28” 12g with full length suppressor. The shorter barrel will make it louder. So I don’t know how much louder the 18.5” barrel I have is compared to a 28. It’s not uncomfortable without hearing pro.

Finding compatible shotguns with shorter barrels (ie 18-22”) is limited since most of them are “tactical” and have fixed bore. I think I know the major ones though if you want I can list them out.

Thank you for the info. No need to list the shotguns that are compatible. I think I will wait and see if there is any new tech that leads to shorter and quieter before I buy.
