Does everyone that kills a 190 class buck just round up to 200”?

They're not. The velvet one is 198 7/8 and the other is 198 4/8 gross if I remember right. These are both really special deer and they still don't truly make it over 200. I am guilty of rounding up and sometimes saying they're right at 200. I don't think I'm the flagrant exaggerator the OP was pointing out though.
If you remember right 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pretty sure you remember, unless you fell and hit your head.

I’ve had two bulls scored. The first one made Pope and Young by 3/8 of an inch at 260 3/8. It was my very first archery elk and I entered it in the book. Obviously it’s not a big bull at all and I just had it scored out of curiosity. It’s nice to know an exact score on an elf to help you judge them in the future.

I’ve had way bigger pools than that scored and never entered them. Never posted them on the Internet either.

I’ve done a lot of musky fishing. Fisherman are known for being liars. lol I’ve caught about 700 of them. Eight were over 50 inches. I know a guy who has caught probably four or five times more than I have. He has never caught a 49 incher. Lol 🤥

He was closer to 190” or 192”..

Something to think about is if he was just 1/4” less on all his points including eyeguards and you are looking at a high 180’s type buck….

Dude, the mass at those bases is insane...
Agreed when horns in your hands he’s super impressive! pics never did him justice, (didn’t help I was at ranch solo )
we have a bad genetic where we are, where one side is always weaker than other (killed 2 low 60s with same issues) what id give if hed match both sides

Even w 3 stickers off the back ya can’t see = this one did not 😆🤦🏼‍♂️…..

What I find more interesting is the instafamous models who constantly shoot sub 180 bucks and make it seem like it was hard or a big accomplishment 🤡🤡🤡……
Depends how sub 180, and the circumstances. A $20k guided hunt is one thing, but a legit 175” diy public land buck by a regular working guy is a really good buck by almost any standard.

Lots of embellishments for both bucks and bulls, but I’ll stand by harder to find a 200 buck than a 350 bull in Co these days
Depends on the area but I agree. Heck in Arizona I’ve seen more 400” bulls than 200” bucks.

I spent yesterday walking around the hunting expo looking at mounts. Many of which I’ve seen pictures of online and heard claims of scores. I feel like I hardly ever hear people talk about killing deer in the 190’s but I do hear a lot of claims of 200” deer.
I saw a post today of a really nice typical 4 point with no eye guards. The post said #200inchclub. It was a nice buck but jeez.. do people realize how big a deer has to be to score 200” as a typical? You’re not fooling anyone but yourself.
I kill to follow a b&c scorer around that place and get their honest opinions on some of these animals.
I’ve had my hands on enough bucks to know the difference. It’s like that old song says, “I let him lie”. Unless it’s one of my friends, and then I call BS! If you are lucky enough to see 190 on the hoof, you’ll swear it’s 210 until the horns touch the ground. Ground shrinkage is a real thing!

If I ever get the opportunity to kill a 160 mulie and someone talks shit I’m fighting them.

I’ve wondered what a 200” typical mulie is comparable to in the whitetail world?
Well all time book is 190” for mule deer and 170” for whitetail so percentage at 200” mule deer to whitetail would be 178”.
I don’t know whitetail but killing a typical mule deer over 200” net is about as rare as it can get.

I get letting the young age class buck walk and agree with it, there's no doubt a +-4 year old 160" - 180" buck with good genetics and plenty of quality feed can be "THAT" next level buck at +-6 years old.

I measured a 182" Idaho mulie a couple weeks ago, the shoulder mount was no doubt next level "BIG"......... damn where does another 20" come from? lol

Imo, if he's an old pot bellied/ swayed back buck (and you can tell the difference) be proud to take him off the mountain weather he's 160" or 199 7/8"........................ and if someone wants to talk sht then fights on! lol

One point of defense for the expo, is the location- the high ceilings and open spaces do make the trophies look smaller than a normal setting in a house etc.

This is why I generally support scoring organizations like B&C and P&Y- they do provide credibility when animals are officially entered!!

On a side note I killed a whitetail that net 198.5” non-typical, (was 206” gross) official P&Y with a broken G2….

Does that qualify as a 200”er??
If 206 gross, then yes, a 200 incher . Nets are for fish

Yea 💯 agree. I helped a couple guys kill 160+- bucks this past year and they were understandably totally stoked on the hunt/expirence…

The 🤡 I am talking about are the social media/pod cast type “influencers” who want to act like they hunt 190”+ bucks then kill the same type of 160-170”+- bucks then take a wide or weird angle “for the gram” and then move states to kill another…. Then do it year after year.. Lots of then there…

Or I have 0 gripes toward anyone who gets a tag and gets a buck they are proud of even if it’s a forkey. Now the guys who kill 4 160”-bucks “for the gram and likes” in 4 states, in one year = from where I sit are way worse than some guy sayin a 192” buck is a 200” buck. For real how many 160-“ bucks can a guy eat in a year….
