Does everyone that kills a 190 class buck just round up to 200”?

Once the tape was brought out this guy ended up over 32” or 32 1/4” wide…

190 or 200 who cares awesome buck. Also pictures can be deceiving both ways some look smaller some look bigger. Just be grateful you harvested such a magnificent animal.

They're not. The velvet one is 198 7/8 and the other is 198 4/8 gross if I remember right. These are both really special deer and they still don't truly make it over 200. I am guilty of rounding up and sometimes saying they're right at 200. I don't think I'm the flagrant exaggerator the OP was pointing out though.

I honestly don't remember for sure. I've been very fortunate and have More than my fair share of good bucks. The scores just a number. It doesn't change what they are or what they mean to me.

I’ve had two bulls scored. The first one made Pope and Young by 3/8 of an inch at 260 3/8. It was my very first archery elk and I entered it in the book. Obviously it’s not a big bull at all and I just had it scored out of curiosity. It’s nice to know an exact score on an elf to help you judge them in the future.

I’ve had way bigger pools than that scored and never entered them. Never posted them on the Internet either.

I’ve done a lot of musky fishing. Fisherman are known for being liars. lol I’ve caught about 700 of them. Eight were over 50 inches. I know a guy who has caught probably four or five times more than I have. He has never caught a 49 incher. Lol

Something to think about is if he was just 1/4” less on all his points including eyeguards and you are looking at a high 180’s type buck….

Agreed when horns in your hands he’s super impressive! pics never did him justice, (didn’t help I was at ranch solo )
we have a bad genetic where we are, where one side is always weaker than other (killed 2 low 60s with same issues) what id give if hed match both sides

What I find more interesting is the instafamous models who constantly shoot sub 180 bucks and make it seem like it was hard or a big accomplishment ……

Depends how sub 180, and the circumstances. A $20k guided hunt is one thing, but a legit 175” diy public land buck by a regular working guy is a really good buck by almost any standard.

Depends on the area but I agree. Heck in Arizona I’ve seen more 400” bulls than 200” bucks.

I spent yesterday walking around the hunting expo looking at mounts. Many of which I’ve seen pictures of online and heard claims of scores. I feel like I hardly ever hear people talk about killing deer in the 190’s but I do hear a lot of claims of 200” deer.
I saw a post today of a really nice typical 4 point with no eye guards. The post said #200inchclub. It was a nice buck but jeez.. do people realize how big a deer has to be to score 200” as a typical? You’re not fooling anyone but yourself.
I kill to follow a b&c scorer around that place and get their honest opinions on some of these animals.

I’ve had my hands on enough bucks to know the difference. It’s like that old song says, “I let him lie”. Unless it’s one of my friends, and then I call BS! If you are lucky enough to see 190 on the hoof, you’ll swear it’s 210 until the horns touch the ground. Ground shrinkage is a real thing!
