Does everyone that kills a 190 class buck just round up to 200”?

Lots of embellishments for both bucks and bulls, but I’ll stand by harder to find a 200 buck than a 350 bull in Co these days
I don’t doubt it. I’ve never hunted in Colorado but I’ve also seen that trend from afar, which is interesting considering that I’ve always thought of co as a mega buck state and a complete dinker elk state.

Yes I would say 80/90/ early 00’s it was that way for sure. Since probably 2010 or so we have CPW switched to the kill all the bucks let God sort it out model and our age class especially in the last 8 years has fallen off a cliff, state will always produce some studs and plenty of the 150-170 type bucks but far less of the 180+ we were known for, now elk have been thriving. Not unusual for 330-350 class bulls to come out of “trash” otc archery units every year

Lots of dudes taking fisheye pics of a 160” (or even much smaller), call it 180” and say it’s an old mountain warrior or monarch or some dumb shit.

Don’t get me started on giant pen raised Mexico bucks that they release the day before a client shows and post a kill picture with the caption “we knew he was the one when we first laid eyes on him”. Yeah no shit, he was bought and paid for SPECIFICALLY. Jack offs.

Definitely a lot of embellishment out there for bucks and bulls. Just check out the 300" Bull thread - there's several in there that look to be scored with pretty generous tape measures.

“Timber monster” “bruiser”… those old Mexico bucks hit the pharmacies hard down there…

Killed a 290 bull last year, he was a stud… but he was no 300 and if you know something about field scoring you can tell…

One point of defense for the expo, is the location- the high ceilings and open spaces do make the trophies look smaller than a normal setting in a house etc.

This is why I generally support scoring organizations like B&C and P&Y- they do provide credibility when animals are officially entered!!

On a side note I killed a whitetail that net 198.5” non-typical, (was 206” gross) official P&Y with a broken G2….

Does that qualify as a 200”er??

Most guys, even experienced deer hunters, have no idea what is required for a deer to score 200"...especially a typical.

The first "big" buck I killed...i coulda sworn he was 220"...178 LOL

Killed an absolute monster this year...everyone was guessing well into the 200s...I said he'd be lucky to hit 185...sure enough 180 on the dot. Mass and width are deceiving...its ALL about the forks.

You mean like the giant Sonora coues and mule deer Josh bowman just shot 🤣

Just because a buck is 200 doesnt mean it is an accomplishment either. It’s the hunt and what the harvest means to the hunter.

If said hunter is trying to monetize their harvest with false click-baity claims. Screw that.

If they are honest about their walk with god and try to impress positive ethics and morals upon the audience. Good for them if they shot a 160” deer and have a youtube video to share with everybody.

A little devils advocate to put you rokslide-famous models in your place 🤡

I did not realize I was “rockslide famous” here I just thought I was some random normal guy…
Man - I have truly hit the big time 🤦🏼‍♂️😆!!

What I am sayin is that there is exaggeration everywhere. Some guys have to kill for the gram = just to get a post n likes. Other folks could care less about the social media side.. I see more exaggeration in that 165-180” range (social media driven) than anywhere in the hunting space.

Or I do see more 160-170” bucks where folks throw a long arm, fish eye, or sit 20’ behind the deer then claim 180, mature, old gnarled warrior!! Than I do guys saying a 192” buck is a 200” buck. Anyone I have ever been around are totally stoked beyond belief and proud when a tape says 192”.. In fact I have never seen anyone ever kill a 190” type buck and not be over the top stoked.. Maybe at the expo w the outfitters it’s a thing but I just have not seen it w bucks worked for and taken on public land…

If it’s a typical I don’t think even most mule deer folks know how big a 200” net typical looks on the hoof. They don’t even look real.. It’s been a life goal of mine to get one w a bow and I well even w my “rockslide famous” label = am still working on that..

In the end shoot what ya like even if is a forkey to eat but if ya are fish eyein 170”+- bucks for the gram = well it is what it is….

A 🤡🤡 show…
