First time buying SWFA

I do think that I won’t be shooting any NRL hunter matches until next year now.

Do you think the S2H scope may be a better option for NRL hunter?
Couldn't tell ya from experience. I haven't gotten my order (4) of them yet. I'd assume it has higher quality glass, better turrets, and a better reticle. My plan is to use it for NRL Hunter next year as well.

If you aren't going to shoot any NRL Hunter events until after you get your S2H, then there's no reason to get an expensive scope now. Get a cheap, fixed 6x or 10x SWFA and call it a day for this season. Then you can easily resell it post season.

I’ll be the lone detractor… I think you’ll struggle with the SWFA 3-15 in NRL Hunter. I don’t think the glass is great quality and NRL Hunter can really stress your scope’s ability to see in poor lighting conditions. I just shot a match with the Maven RS1.2 and it even struggled on the difficult lighting stages. I’m not an expert NRL Hunter shooter, but you will definitely be at a disadvantage running the 3-15 SWFA. As long as you are okay with this, then it’s a fantastic option for hunting.

I have shot 8 NRL matches now with the RS1.2. the only targets I have had trouble with were in very dark shadows where most everyone else also had trouble seeing the target. No experience with the 3-15 swfa here.

I am pretty interested in the s2h scope though.

The SWFA scopes are good. I have a pair of Gen 2 3-15's. My only complaints are eye relief and turret length. I don't like long turrets, especially for windage and eye relief is pretty tight. I'm picky. I have 3 S2H scopes coming on first drop. They seem to check a lot of boxes for me. The SWFA scopes will work fine until the S2H scopes arrive.

Looking for a scope that can be used for my primary hunting rifle (6.5 CM) and used for NRL hunter.

I do have a deposit down for a S2H scope but that won’t be coming till December (I believe, bought as part of the fourth drop)

I currently own a vortex scope and I have that on my PRS gun. But after this last year I will not be having a scope for hunting that doesn’t have a capped windage dial.

Through my reading of forums my two biggest needs with a scope is dependable (drop test) and capped windage (at a fair price).

Through my research it seems like SWFA 3-15 may be a good option. My only worry is that I am not seeing many people talk about (besides this forum) and I am getting flack from my friends saying buy a known brand 😂

So would just love to hear thoughts on this scope (or others scope options) and SWFA products as a whole.

Thanks for the advice and help!

Help ole @Jimbee out.
If you want a more “proven” name, he’s also selling a Minox.

False. 3-9 does everything the 6x does with hd glass and more zoomies. And it's lighter and smaller. And it has a better FOV.
I have and like both. For whatever reason the 6x just seems easier to look through (apologies for getting all technical), and you can't buy a new one right now, so it gets extra points for scarcity. It's also probably an old enough design to get cool retro points.

Assuming MOA Quad?

That's going to be your loner scope? Your poor, old-fashioned friends are going to be so confused. Mil-dot reticle, MOA turrets. Ick. (I know that used to be a thing, and it's probably usable as long as you're not trying to use your reticle to measure what to dial, but the asymmetry of it gives me the heebie-jeebies).

It’s how you wean someone off MOA 😂

I have had a hard time convincing my old-fashioned shooting buddies to check out SWFA. They can’t get over the name brand or MOA. But yesterday, a mistake on EBay gave me the perfect solution. I was flipping back and forth between auctions, got confused (as I often do), and I accidentally bought a SWFA demo 3-9x40 in MOA. The horror. The horror. So, I am going to loan that to them until one of them buys it.

If I was you, if the 3-9x isn’t enough magnification for your purpose, I would get the 3-15x and try it out. I will say, however, that I prefer the 5-20x to the 3-15x. There’s one of those for a fair price on the classifieds right now. They also come up on EBay fairly often.
I know it's stupid but I can't get over those fugly ten story tall turrets. If it wasn't for the turrets I'd have bought a few by now.
