It has a few definitions and the context plays a part. Let’s error on the side of caution when using it. (for the record I don’t think it was used in a negative manner here).
FYI....I know plenty of folks from LA and have a couple good friends from there.

None of them have a problem with being called a coonass. Some of them actually prefer that you address them with it.

Maybe things have changed with the new woke movement in the country now, but it was never a slur as far back as I can remember

I grew up in a Louisiana and am a product of their public schools. #49 in the nation…thanks to Mississippi.

Not to dump my my neighbor, but Mississippi is the armpit of the US to me. It has an unremarkable stretch of coast down south and then it is pretty much featureless, loblolly pine forests just waiting to get turned into 2x4s all the way north to Memphis. If you google “top 10 attractions in Mississippi” you get Elvis‘s birth place and nine things that are uncomfortably connected to slavery.

IMO, most states have at least one feature that really shines - New Orleans or New York City for example - and a few other interesting parts. I can’t name a single thing about Mississippi that stands out.
You must not have been to the Grove on Saturday's in the fall.

Serious question, is there any hunting in Florida?
Went to Key West and really enjoyed it. Don't think I could afford to live there.
Whitetail, wild boar, gators, plenty of turkeys depending on location. Best along alabama/Georgia border. There are actually natural 140-160 class whitetails to be had in select areas. St. Vicente island actually has Sambar deer hunting. Duck hunting can be good. South Florida public land opportunities among the worst in the US. Takes work. And private leases down there can be insane. I don’t think I’ve seen leases go for more money anywhere in the country. There are leases with 20 dudes sharing 5000 acres and they are all paying north of $15k per year (they have protein feeding program built in to this though/ since pine plantations will not support deer quality they are looking for).

There's not a state one that isn't interesting if you look hard enough. I'd say the worst is whatever state has the most city divided by total land mass. Probably new Jersey
NJ for the win. I’ve been in every corner of this great country and there is a short list of states that compare with NJ.

In fact anything close to I-95 from Boston to Fredericksburg is pretty goddamn miserable.

I’d still take that over the Wind River or Makah Indian reservations tho.

That’s the part( I -95 Corridor) that every stereotypical joke about NJ comes from. That area is just S—t. Get 30 minutes west or south and it’s a whole different state. The NE corner of the state has the majority of the population do to proximity to NYC and also when Ellis Island was open for immigrants that was the nearest and many family’s just never left.

Isn’t that the truth about most states! One area gives the rest of the state a back wrap.

I dont know, but removing politics and people, CA might be the best. All 3 elk species, Mule and blacktail deer, antelope, desert sheep, california bighorn, abalone, salmon, halibut, trout....
Yep. You'll never draw a sheep or elk tag. Salmon season closed. Abalone closed. Like going to Africa on safari with a camera. I see no point in it.

Not defending Californias approach to game management, at all. But the reasons we can’t draw elk or (good) deer tags are political in nature. And the reasons our wild ungulate populations aren’t going to improve are political in nature. And the reasons we don’t have good waterfowl hunting are political in nature. And the reason we can’t catch abalone or salmon are political in nature. And the reason our gun laws are wacky are political in nature. And so forth. Really, it’s an urban vs rural values issue and the red v. blue issues that are at stake nationwide can be viewed through a California prism fairly easily. News flash, it isn’t a state full of commie transvestite surfers. It’s just that the urban parts of the state outnumber and outvote the remainder. Oregon and Washington are on similar
and accelerated paths. Most of the US is. Urbanization is winning this game right now regardless of the location. Free stuff given to urban people wins votes. People with money move to pretty places. I understand that this is not going to sit well with a lot of you but if we want to defend rural values, which include hunting, fishing, trapping, ranching, etc. then I’d suggest that there are some lessons to be learned from the red parts of California because they’ve been fighting that “war” for a long time now. Longer than most in this country to be sure.

Not everyone in the hunting/gun owning community is a Republican, conservative, redneck, white person, religious person or rural person. There are liberals and Democrats that hunt, fish, own guns and love democracy and equality. The only thing that is FACT is most Americans live in denialism and refuse change for the better of all of us IMO. I refuse to live in fear of anything.

The only thing that is FACT is most Americans live in denialism and refuse change for the better of all of us. Just please pass on to everyone to give a break from the propaganda. Thanks.
You are dead wrong, they are not like me. They keep voting for those who want to take our firearms, tax us to death to support those who refuse to go out and make a living. Because of their terrible policies they have raised the price of everything, from TP to the fuel you use to go to work, the energy you use to heat and cool your house. The liberal state I live in, is pushing for everything to to go electric, while at the same time refusing to build more power generating plants to generate that power. We have rolling blackouts every summer due to the lack of power generating plants. We are now back to being energy dependent on countries who would love to see the end of our country. They keep raising the interest rates. Now they want to punish those with good credit ratings to support those who have lesser ratings because of their poor judgment. Virtually every day I read another article on another policy they want which will cause even more hardships on those of us who are not waiting for the govt. to give us a hand out.The really sad things is, they think they are doing a great job. One last thing, have you looked at your investments lately, thank the current administration for that.

Denver is quickly turning CO unlivable.
A guy I know from SD drove to CO. to buy some weapons for his gun store in Aberdeen. He spent the night in a local hotel and during the night his truck was broken into and 16 guns were stole. He called the local police to report it and was arrested on 16 counts of improper storage of firearms, along with anything they could muster up to make it worst.
