Dire Wolf de-extinction

The idea of Pleistocene Park (in Siberia) is the closest chance to ever recreating ice age hunting grounds.

There is a good documentary video on the website.

Dire wolves IMO is a PR stunt, gets interest and most importantly donation$

It really makes no sense to created an apex predator first without a food base. That’s why the whole idea of Pleistocene Park is important.

Imagine the frozen arctic, which is now very devoid of most animals, with herds of millions of Ungulates! It’s the only place that has a chance since very few humans and development is in the way.

Unfortunately herds of bison and elk will never roam the Great Plains again (as long as barbed wire exists) But the arctic could be full of animals if the tundra is changed back to the ice age grasses and pastures it once was.

While it would be fun to hunt them, my preference would be to ride them

We can’t seem to learn the principles of unintended consequences. It’s from the movie Jurassic Park, but accurate nonetheless, to paraphrase, “ Just because you can, doesn’t necessarily mean you should. “

Someone needs to post this info over in the “Can you beat a 100 lb. dog in a fight” thread. Can you beat a 400 lb dog in a fight?

I love these threads. So much more fun than “What rifle to go under my SWFA 6-9?

Edit: I just looked it up and they only went about 175 lbs tops, so my confidence is high, cuz I have a 27 lb advantage.

"Ooh, ah," that's how it always starts. But then later there's running and screaming.

The running and screaming is always my favorite part of the movie ! Then I can sit there and think to myself “ I could’ve told you this was a bad idea.”
