If you could get a great tasting meal with less sodium, with it's only drawback being it only has a 2-year shelf life. Would you buy it?

What would be your top five meals?

Yes I would. A 2 year shelf life would be plenty long for my needs. I'd expect to have it eat in a year no problem.

I'm not a picky eater, so would likely just choose the healthiest offerings.

Absolutely, I don't buy my meals until I am a month out anyways. I couldn't ring off 5 meals right now but I stay away from Italian meals due to heartburn, which I don't get eating it anywhere else but figure the high sodium may have something to do with it.

I know I would. I'm not very picky I would just choose what I thought sounded the best. Very sophisticated huh?

Yes, though I can't afford to pay $15 a meal for those Heather Choice meals. Wish there was a healthier option than Mtn House, without paying for organic/grass fed type meats & ingredients.

I doubt many of us keep anything around for more then 2 years. My favorite mountain houses would be Spaghetti w/ meat sauce, Chili Mac, Biscuits & Gravy and Chicken Breast & Mash. Also, the discontinued Chicken Alfredo is quite good if you can find it. I have always thought that an Enchilada Casserole would be easy to make and taste quite good (cheese, chicken, corn tortilla, enchilada sauce, onion, green chilis). I don't mind the multiple steps of Backpacker's Pantry if it were to result in a better product, but it often ends up worse than MH with twice the work.

I have made a few of my own. But buying would be a good option Sheppard s pie.
Chicken parmesian might be good
Pulled pork over rice
Chicken and dumplings

I would absolutely buy some even if it is only a two year shelf life. I rarely don't eat mtn house within a month of buying it. I agree the cost could be a deal breaker since I'm just eating for energy. When it comes to meals as long as they taste decent I'm not picky.

I tried the Heathers Choice sampler pack and everything was outstanding. There was no fat, bloated feeling after eating any of it.
The drawback is shipping it up north of the border, I was looking at $23 CDN for 1 entrée after paying exchange and shipping. I might just have to stick with beef stroganoff for another year.

Yes, I figure even if I buy in bulk, if I couldn't eat it within two years, I need to get out more. I like alpine aire's stuff. One thing I recommend is do a trial run with any new meals at home. If I run myself out of the house, it's not going to get any better inside a sleeping bag in a tent. :)

1) A good, meaty chili
2) Some fajita filling, that could be re-hydrated and rolled up in tortillas
3) Venison stew
4) Teryaki chicken and rice
5) Chicken or pork chow mein

Chicken Alfredo would be awesome, but might be hard to get it right. Beef Stroganoff too.

I would for sure. I don't mind paying for the heathers choice as I am very sensitive to all the "extras" that get added to most freeze dried meals. The heathers choice is like eating at home. Plus today Heather delivered my order to me so I didn't have to pay shipping. She is a pretty awesome person.

The good to go meals as pretty good as well.

These would not compete with Heathers.

These would compete more with the mountain house pro pack. Same price point, better taste, less sodium.
