Fred Eaglesmith is the man! I got a story about him... back in the mid 90's I had started listening to Robert Earl Keen & he came to the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte. At the time it was kind of a run down place in a shit hole area. Me & 2 of my buddies had a case of beer & 2 boxes of Bojangles chicken eating it on the tailgate of a POS truck in the gravel parking lot behind the building. There was an old POS school bus with a stove pipe coming out the side that looked like it couldn't make it another 10 miles. After a few minutes these dudes rolled out of that bus & walked up to us & asked if they could have some chicken cause they were starving. They looked like they were homeless & just slightly better than warmed over ass. We let em have some chicken & some beers & had a big time shootin the shit. Then they introduced themselves as Fred Eaglesmith & the Flying Squirrels & they were opening for REK. Said they drove that bus from Ontario. Cool dudes.
