Could you help yourself?

Not today Fish and Game…

For the record, I’ve picked up one elk antler I found during the season. Went to my garage, then in the trash.

I feel bad for all the varmints I deprived of that calcium.

This.

How about another one. You’re packed in 5 miles, the day before season starts. It’s evening time and you’re glassing up a basin, making plans for opening morning. A BOAL walks out in front of you at 5 yards. What would you do?
We had that happen once. 2 hrs in, about 150 yds from where we were gonna camp this bull rips out a bugle. We stop and think, sweet, a bull right next to camp! The frickin thing (nice 6x6) trundles out into the meadow with his cows, 20 yds from us. Me, my brother and my buddy just look at each other like, no one would ever know....then sat for 10 minutes as they chased around within 30 yards. We never killed a bull that trip.

Send my Lab out to go to the bathroom. He would come back with his new chew toy. If it was a Sting I would tell the CO he identifies as a transgender coyote that likes racks.
I am about to start identifying as a Gray Wolf. Then I can hunt elk any time I want, nobody can mess with me cause im endangered, and I get the double protection of being "trans-species". Anybody wanna start a wolf pack with me? Nothing weird, strictly for hunting/tax purposes only. Ill be out there chewin on antlers all april long.

Wait a day snag the backstraps and the head off of it while the hunter that shot it is all comfy in his sleeping bag.

I feel like this happens a lot. I usually think if I can find him now hopefully I can again. There is one that still haunts me though… I was coues deer hunting and the evening before season opened I had a legit 125-130” buck come out (rifle hunt). I was in middle of no where, hadn’t seen a truck in days. I just watched, tried to get some pictures, honestly didn’t even think about shooting because thought I could relocated him no issue. Hunted the next 6 days without seeing anything, killed a 90” last day.
I still have dreams about that deer, wouldn’t do anything different though.

Just get along lil doggy.
I enjoy antler hunting. Mostly because we use them as dog treats. I also enjoy getting out. If it was in season I'd grab it with a hard earned smile. Probably been searching for a while. Kinda like a nice buck by the road. I'm a meat hunter, grab it if it's legal.
Not just another ethics thing. It's more ammunition than will be used by folks that want to stop all hunting and fishing. Don't get off the path folks.
How about letting the local game biologists that study these wolves every day do their job.

Nope leaving it alone for the simple reason of it wouldn’t be worth the punishment if you got caught.

It’s kind of like smoking pot. Do I think there is anything wrong with it? Nope. Is it worth doing and ending up with the consequences? Nope.

I guess I’m weird, never picked up a shed or a deadhead. I’ll take a picture if it’s a good one but if I didn’t kill it I’m not displaying it anyway.
