Learn from my trespassing mistake in Idaho!!!!!

The Wilks own a pile of land near me and they haze elk with their helicopter from BLM back to their ranch. They set traps to catch people trespassing. Like planting sheds next to the road and then set up cameras. They are terrible people. Terrible people with so much money they do what they want. They cause problems everywhere they own land. I recommend always playing it safe when hunting near their land.

How is that a bad thing? Stay off of private land that you dont have permission to be on and evil traps like that wont affect you...

That’s true. But to set out and try to get people to break the law doesn’t seem right to me.
And when you have 4-5k elk on your property I don’t think you should haze elk off public back on to private. I’ve sat on a ridge while they flew 10’ above the trees up and down every ridge. This behavior is reported to fwp every season.

Yea I really dont have any sympathy for somebody who gets nabbed trespassing. Removing objects from private property is theft IMO. I say throw the book at everybody that gets caught. I see nothing wrong with tossing out a little bait to catch the dumb ones.

Next time make sure you have orange on so they can see you and report it to FAA. 14 CFR 91.119 is in violation here most likely.

Video it and try and catch the tail number as well. Hard to say you were doing something else when it is on video.

Okay, Sorry, bub. I've never worked the mean streets of Helena, pop 34,000, but as a "LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER", I am irritated by other 'Law Enforcement Officers' who don't have a basic understanding of the difference between reasonable suspicion/probable cause of crime being afoot vs simply 'we got a call on you'. which is what 80% of my comment was about. LOL, yeah, it's been a week lol. I'll be done for now haha. I guess the lesson here is if you have a loved one interested in law enforcement, dissuade them, or at least direct them to Conservation police, they seem to enjoy their jobs lol.

If you can't call out potential constitutional violations and unethical behavior by your peers and coworkers that's pretty sad and says a lot about why a lot of people have a general distrust for law enforcement.

What we don't do is run down other officers from other agencies

And Game wardens are the worst offenders, too. They'll search your whole boat with no warrant just to make sure you have a safety whistle on board....If I started searching private property the way they do, I'd be spending most of my week in federal court getting dragged over the coals regarding the blatant 4th amendment violations.....Oh, but the game warden wants to make sure the fish are all 12 inches and not 11?

In South Carolina, most "cops" a/k/a Sherrffs and deputies are corrupt, and the few that are too decent or scared won't call them out.
