Not a great start...
MER 50
40 Degrees Slight Wind Left to Right
Hoyt Defiant Turbo 69# at 30"
Sever 2.1
300 FMJs
10" Circle
My 31st arrow of the year so it should get better as the year progresses. 50 is also a new thing I've never shot at an animal outside of 35 but would like to get a little more comfortable at further distances.

Day 2

Fighting a pretty gusty left to right wind 10-15.

Day 3

32 this morning with sustained 20 mph winds and gusts to 25-30. Safe to say no deer are getting harmed in the wind storms at 50 this year.

Disclaimer: Top arrow is only holding the foam core to the target.

Day 4

Warmed up a bit today and the wind finally died down this morning. Shot felt great and the results showed today.

Day 5

38 this morning 5 mph right in my face.

This was a good way to start the year. Could have shot better could have been worse. Hoping I can get that MER up to that 70/80 range by season. Thanks for putting this on!!

50 yard MER. Elk is primarily what I go after.
Mathews Triax ~67#s 26” draw, Carter Nock2it, Hamskea Trinity Hunter Pro rest, Montana Black Gold Ascent Verdict Assault 5 pin sight, Stokerized Stasis stabilizer, 25.5” GoldTip Kinetic Pierce Platinum 340, 4-fletch Q2I Fusion X-II 2.1 vanes, Valkyrie 180gr short-jag.

Day 1: 645am, 24 degrees, no wind. Shot felt perfect. I noticed I forgot to put the other 3 arrows in the quiver. Will fix that from now on.
FE9B42A0-6AFA-46B1-A537-14ADCDE79F83.jpeg
Day 2: 645am, 32 degrees, slight 1-2mph wind from behind quartering right to left. I loaded the quiver loaded up. Shot felt good and now I wonder if the weight had me torquing the bow a bit. So this one was a good bit out of my vitals.
97CF6AB3-8EA8-4809-9B5A-436578FFA0BC.jpeg
Day 3: 632am, 23 degrees, 6-8mph wind from right to left. Aimed a touch higher because of yesterday. Shot felt clean again but still went left out of the vitals again. Now I’m wondering if it’s the wind? Seems like not enough to matter at least with field points it hasn't. Might try an empty quiver on day 5 just to see.
51D95CDA-97BB-4B2E-B39C-9C6DE30EBD3E.jpeg
Day 4: 629am, 9 degrees, .5-1mph wind from back. I decided that since the purpose of this is to mimic the one shot opportunity at your max effective range I am not going to try and game it by taking arrows out of the quiver or corrective aiming etc. So I put my pin on and let it fly as if it were an elk this morning. Shot broke high and impact reflected that. I guess that wind that doesn’t affect my field-points does drastically affect my broad-head. Also, I am assuming that the extra humidity may have had something to do with the low arrow day 2?
0DEEB93C-FF83-4D96-B44E-A3C43794D777.jpeg
Day 5: 626 am, 13 degrees, .5-1mph wind from back. I didn’t change a thing. Shot broke felt pretty good. With the lack of wind, I do believe that is what drifted my arrow day 2 and 3. But, it still could have been my release was off then...
44A01F6A-CD06-4B9F-B84E-B2BCDC3B1F5E.jpeg
Thanks Robby and all the ones at Rokslide that put this together. This is my first CBC and I have learned more than I thought I would. Mainly these 3 things. First, I’m not as good as I think I am for a one shot a day. Second, broadheads are affected drastically by outside changes of wind and humidity. Lastly, I need to practice more with my broadheads!
I will be keeping this in my archery toolbox and will definitely be back next year, thanks again!

Day 3 - 37 degrees no wind

Day 5- 51 degrees 7 mph wind

I would like to thank Robby and all of the sponsors for setting this up. This was my first year and at age 68 it was a lot of fun. I learned that my shooting was okay this early in the season and my final group was 7.5" at 50 yards, however it was not centered on my target. Something to works towards. Randy, Tony, Robby and all fellow bowhunters thanks for sharing. Tony after seeing your group and several others with Iron Will broadheads I just might have to give them a try. Nice shooting Tony! Stan perfex thumb release

MER 50 yards with spike deer size vitals

Day 1:
Maybe I should be in the “cold beer challenge”? Took my bow through some dense brush last night in the dark, I might have snagged my sight on something? Shot was about 10” low. For now I’ll assume it was just a bad shot and try again tomorrow
Wind was 5 from 2:00 with slight mist
829FAC55-4952-43B6-BACE-BA2DC6FA253A.jpeg

Day 2
Some wind gusts up to 10mph this morning but mostly calm.
Shot felt good on release but again low, this time with some left to right error as well. I think I’m dropping my bow hand on release.
FD301F13-7B56-49D9-B15B-3799BDF4DC90.jpeg

Day 3.
At this point I’m considering a long term investment in a blood tracking dog. Confidence is at a low point. But at least I have an idea of how I’m tending to miss (low) and what not to do. I’m focusing on keeping bow hand stationary until well after the shot. Gusts this afternoon up to 15mph and bright sunshine.
DCC6B78E-626E-4B4B-A046-BB5238793106.jpeg

So I turned the target 90 degrees and managed to get it in there.

Day 4
Again sunny and breezy this afternoon. Timed this one in between gusts and got the heart end of the vitals
7E202B55-5D40-4947-84CE-88F7AFACBFB6.jpeg

Day 5:
Finally getting around to posting, after thinking I had things figured out I again hit low. Arrow flight with broadheads just doesn’t look good right now. 5-10 mph wind not a factor

Thanks to staff and sponsors for putting this on!

Day 1 - 6:38am, 42 degrees, slight gusts 2-3 mph

Unfortunately I did not make a clean exit and was forced to bring my 2 year old to the range. This had the unexpected consequence of causing a good bit of stress on the shot, trying to keep her corralled. I had to let down twice. This shot didn’t feel great on the break, but luckily still found its mark. Shot taken sitting, as turkey season started today and I will be sitting a blind for the first time ever.

ECE41619-60ED-4ADE-BCEF-340FBB1C180B.jpeg

Day 2 - 1:15pm, 19 degrees, snow flurries, inconsistent wind but honestly nothing major. Shot with a full quiver today from standing, with gloves on.

Weather turned and I almost didn’t drive out to the range. There were a lot of excuses, it’s Easter, weather is bad, drive is too far, etc etc. It comes down to would I shoot at an animal in this weather if I was on a hunt? I sure wouldn’t stay in the tent... so off to the range I went.

821EF9FF-5707-40F2-8EBF-7464DC5B2F10.jpeg

AAD42BBD-6427-4B7D-992A-C647164303C9.jpeg

Shot broke and I knew it wasn’t great. I immediately knew I had collapsed on the shot, and sure enough missed low right. Again the excuses crept in. It was close, right? Almost good enough. Probably would still be a kill on an animal. Maybe I just shoot again... etc etc. The bottom line is I missed and that sucks. Need to get back to work.

It is EXTREMELY difficult to stop shooting after a miss.

Day 3 - 5:30pm, 48 degrees, strong gusts N NE @ 5-10mph.

7F2184B6-D7B2-419C-8F9C-1530605B05CD.jpeg

I apologize for being slow to finish up, work has been pretty challenging during the lockdown. Stopped at the range to get my day 3 shot in, dress shoes, slacks and all. Windy day made for a tough shot. Felt good on the release, but the left to right gusts got me. Just able to squeak this one in there.

Day 4 - 3:45pm, 51 degrees, no wind of note. Absolutely perfect weather. No kids. Shot felt so good I was a bit disappointed it wasn’t an X, but still my best shot in the challenge so far.

26548A64-6D8F-40EE-8D19-55624102FBE0.jpeg

I’m thinking I’ll try to do something special for my final shot.

Day 5 - 32 degrees, gusts around 10mph, a few snowflakes swirling.

Following The Legend @robby denning‘s example I lugged my target up the mountain to make my final shot as realistic as possible. Cross canyon shot with wind coming L to R. Standing on a steep decline

This has been a lot of fun, frustrating, and humbling. Definitely motivation to get more winter reps in next year! Thank you Rokslide for putting this on.

Setup: PSE decree HD 70lbs 29in draw gold tip kinetic pierce platinum 300 spine TAW 476grains, MBG 3 pin ascent, 12/8in bee stinger stabs, field points.

Day 1 MER 50 yards. Took the shot after turkey hunting with my wife this morning. I was cold, hungry, tired, and frustrated at the turkeys...Perfect conditions! No wind. Target was slightly uphill which is not a shot i practice enough. Felt like I punched the trigger but I am happy with where it landed.

A15B54E7-0625-4C5A-9201-CB2177DBBE9F.jpeg

Vital zone is anything within the outline of the 5 circles.

Day 2, drove 20 mins to the local range to shoot and run. Without the challenge my lazy butt would not have run lol. Windy with 20mph gusts but pretty sheltered in the trees. Shot honestly felt great, I didn’t think hard about it and felt confident. Pretty unsettling...although I’ll take a low vitals hit over a high one.

50D7FDCD-A4F8-43B4-A19A-25F69D8DE57B.jpeg

Day 3, another drive to the archery park with a run after shooting. Very windy gusting up to 30mph but somewhat sheltered in the trees. Much better shooting today, focused on letting the pin float over the bullseye and not rushing my shot.

63E3F3BD-F0FE-4228-8D25-47FC024C83B2.jpeg

Day 4, another unsuccessful turkey hunt. Calm conditions. Shot felt good, starting to question my cam sync which has been an issue with some damage to my buss cable. My vertical misses don’t seem to make sense after the shot and something feels a little off. Will have to check tune after tomorrow..

F0DFE6BE-10F4-496F-A72C-3448938E3F40.jpeg

Day 5, good way to end the challenge. Calm conditions took shot after turkey hunting and it was very wet. Clothing was pretty soggy and made it a little tougher to settle in but I took my time and finished strong.

70EC4D60-1879-43A6-82B5-4CEC135A2F42.jpeg

Take away: 50 is a good MER for now but I’d like to see tighter groups and be able to repeat with broadheads. Plenty of time to shore up weaknesses before archery season! Thanks Robbie for another great CBC

Holding for a full minute before release. Pulled high, don’t plan to make a habit of this, no one likes to hit no mans land on an elk. 😅

Day 3:
63° 6mph wind at my 1 o’clock. Hit an inch left of yesterday. These have been the first 3 shots with these new broadheads on and I have hit left. I’m curious to find out after the challenge if thats me or because right haven’t done a final tune on the bow.

Day 4:
46° slight breeze left to right. Wasn’t thinking and hit a chest and triceps workout before shooting, had pretty significant pin float and knew I was low as soon as I shot hitting 3-4” off center.

Day 5:

Day 1: MER 30 yards
This will be my second season bow hunting! Took the shot after turkey hunting with my husband.
Setup: PSE StingerX 40lbs 25in draw goldtip warrior 500 spine with field points
Vitals zone: a circle connecting the centers of the outer circles
397044BC-1868-467F-9E2C-B57C4C163DCA.jpeg
Day 2: clear skies, slight breeze, not many excuses for my bad shot. Too nervous to know what went wrong, but I’m hoping for better things in the next few days! (And if anything at least heightened motivation to practice more!)

545F8012-0AEE-4409-AB6D-75AF3919D525.jpeg
Day 3
Nerves up a notch today. Almost punched the trigger, but I managed to catch myself, focus on my form and follow through and got a great shot! Was pretty stoked. :)

EA7BAB9B-B2CC-4DC5-A603-1C441C3E1B06.jpeg
Day 4: took my first shot (with my shotgun) at a turkey today! Missed, and am super bummed, but having fun and learning a lot. I’m pretty sure the let down from the hunt got in my head, and I tried to talk myself up, but sure enough, wide miss. No wind to blame. We’ll see what tomorrow holds. I’ve got a lot of practicing ahead of me before fall comes around!
047B94B7-E632-4BAD-BDC5-559FEC1B3D1D.jpeg
Day 5: no wind, felt good. I think my grip or follow through is off. This has been a great experience! Thank you!

This is my first go at the Cold Bow Challenge. Since I've joined last year, I've also been going on a barebow/traditional journey. I'm still very much getting used to the draw and developing a traditional/barebow aiming method.

My MER will be 30 yds for the challenge.

My setup:
Hoyt Excel ILF Riser (23")
Soul Black Flash Limbs (26lbs, Longs)
Yost Stubby Stabilizer
Yost Barebow Tab
Hoyt Super Rest
Field Points (Easton xx75 arrows)

I'm hoping for the fall that I can get up to 50-60lb limbs for black bear season.

Day 1
Temp: 38 degress
Wind: Not completely sure; Maybe 10mph crosswind
Shot: I was able to call this one. My biggest issue right now is consistency in my draw and anchor; this one felt good from beginning to end. The other issue that may surface the rest of the challenge is me potential "plucking" the string.

I have an update for the other 4 days here in one fell swoop.

Temperatures were pretty consistent around 40 degrees all this week; Winds were fairly calm, but we can get a few good random gusts here in our hollow.

Day 2 & Day 3 shots
I'm honestly not too sure what happened on both of these shots. Both were consistently high, and relatively in the same ballpark. At this MER, my hold is basically fieldpoint placed right on the target. At release, my mental picture says that I released at the right time. So, I'm not sure if my positioning was off or my follow through wasn't consistent.

Day 4 & Day 5 shots
I was able to get back into the swing with these two shots. I really tried focus on my shot process, from beginning to end. I recently read With Winning in Mind by Lanny Bassham, and I've trying to incorporate mental cues, and techniques to my shot process. I think his process is pretty transferable to archery.

Day 1
MER - 50 yards
Elite Option 6 70lb
Hamskea Hybrid Hunter
Spot Hogg Hogg Father
Scott Wolf Release
Black Eagle Deep Impact Blazer Vanes
100gr Shuttle T

Weather - Sunny with a slight breeze out of the west (coming from my right)

IMG_5512.jpgIMG_5513.jpgIMG_5514.jpg

Day 2

Calm, cloudy, and 46 degrees. Already enjoying this and am quite surprised by my first two shots. I have only shot between 20-30 arrows all year and haven't shot for over 2 weeks until Day 1 yesterday. I struggle a bit sometimes with target panic and this cold shot really helps me concentrate to make it count.

IMG_5520.jpg

Day 3

Well all good things must come to an end.. I think I jinxed myself with the target panic comment yesterday.
47 Degrees with 10-15mph winds coming from my right but I waited for the wind to settle prior to release.
At the shot I did not follow through and began to look too soon which resulted in pulling low/left. Hope to get things back on track to finish out my last two days.
IMG_5537.jpg

Day 4

42 degrees, calm, and cloudy. It appears I am in my head now and punched the trigger. I will be spending some with the tension release after this challenge.

IMG_5542.jpg

Day 5

47 Degrees and cloudy. Slight breeze coming from my right. Unfortunately ended the challenge with another punched trigger shot but, fortunately this leaves considerable room for improvement. I look forward to keeping up the daily routine whether its only 1 arrow or 20. Big thanks to Rokslide for putting this on as well as all of the supporting companies. I enjoyed participating.

Shooting a Hoyt Satori Recurve @20yds. 40lb limbs with a 250 Carbon Express and 150g tooth of the arrow broadheads. Just got this bow about a month ago. Plan is to shoot it at targets this year and be ready to go for next year, once my form and proficiency is better. But man I may just go full Trad, really like shooting it.

My compound is a Hoyt Powermax @50yds. 64lbs. Everything is stock on the bow. Hunter xt 300g also 150g tooth of arrow broadheads.

Not happy with either shot. Intended target is center black circle. Plan on elk, mule deer and bear. There was a slight breeze, left to right but pretty ideal conditions.

Day 1

Day 2

IMG_4464.JPG

Wind was 15-20 over my left shoulder(right handed shooter). I am ok with this result as the wind and snowblindness was strong.

IMG_4465.JPG

Was really happy with this shot. I have the palm trigger from RMSgear and cannot say enough about how it has made my shot group much more consistent is a short time.

Day 3

After watching Robby's video I decided I needed to change my shot angle and elevation on each shot while keeping my MER. Instead of having the same set up for each shot, I am trying to make each shot different and realistic. It showed in my shooting...

This was my third shot @50yds. Trying to hit the center and mimic a quatering away shot...

IMG_4472.JPG
And this was the result, As a quartering away shot I think it would of had a decent outcome, but not where I was aiming.

My Trad shot angle @20yds. Again quartering away.
IMG_4474.JPG
A little farther back than I was hoping.

Day 4

I climbed the mountain on the side of the house. 50yd and 20yd at probably a 40 degree angle. I also waited till light was fading and also shot with gloves on, which made a difference. I haven't shot with angles much at all this year and it showed on both shots. No real wind.

IMG_4478.JPG
aiming for center circle... not acceptable

IMG_4479.JPG
a miss with the Trad bow. I have never shot at any angle/elevation change with the stick... and that's why I plan on shooting it for a year before I try taking any big game with it

Day 5

8F877589-FA03-42FB-AA8A-5DC1A5E9EAFF.jpeg
Quartering forward shot. Not where I want to be. Let’s just say it’s time to get shooting. Had to put both shots in one pic because I’m at the limit for pics. Thanks for another CBC! Great thing for me and my shooting.

Setup is a Stryker Wolverine 58# BE Renegade arrows 350 75 grain inset 35 grain footer 618 TAW with a 200 grain head. Shooting broad heads kneeling MER 25 yards red circle is 9 in.
Day 1 cloudy 55* 17mph wind right to left saw the arrow corkscrew a little. Shot a German jagger broad head
5385D46B-408F-482A-BE5C-CB51B2D446AD.jpeg
Day 2 50* 10 mph wind blowing from the rear. I think I had a little bit of target panic ended up just outside of the circle. Used a VPA 2 blade this time. On the bright side I got the picture right side up.
559D18B8-8075-4F20-99DC-20CBC6ACC2B1.jpeg
Day 3 45* 10mph wind from behind blowing slightly right to left. Shot felt good but the arrow corkscrewed again gonna have to try adjusting the nock height. VPA 2 blade again.
59BF6D5C-3975-4AF0-971A-5D8A8DB39366.jpeg
Day 4 60* 5ish mph wind right to left again. Really focused on my mechanics and shot execution and it paid off. VPA head again.
62FF4063-5CC1-43A1-A49C-BD721E3E14B7.jpeg
day 5 60* wind around 20mph at a 45 right to left. Shot felt good but I pulled it a quarter inch low.Felt good about the challenge this year even though I had 2 shots outside. Now back to practicing.

Starting mine off pretty realistic. Went chasing turkeys, came up empty handed. Had one hang-up that would be dead with the compound but had the widow with me. So goes. But starting anyway in full hunting get up. Pack, binos, and really cold hands.
IMG_20200411_101008630.jpg

I'm shooting compound and trad. Specs as follows.

Mid 90's Black Widow MB, 64" 60# @ 30". Shooting old Parker super magnum arrows. 400 spine, lw 5" parabolic feathers and wrap, 50 grain brass insert, 125 grain Iron Will. 3 under, shooting a fixed crawl. Mer- 40 yards. I feel like this is a little past what it truly is right now, but I want to test myself, I'd like to feel comfortable to 45-50 but hold my shots to about 40. Also have only been shooting this stick 2-3 weeks so far.

2018 Bear Kuma 29" 72#. Tommy Hogg 5 pin sight, tight spot, qad ultrarest mxt, trophy ridge 10" stabilizer, spot Hogg Friday night release, 250 spine black eagle carnivore shafts, flex fletch sk-300, qad Exodus 125 grain. Mer- 80 yards.

Target is elk so I figured a 12" kill zone. Using the center block of my 3d target.

Day #1
Upper 30's now, wind @ 5 o'clock 7 mph +-. Probably covered 3-4 miles this morning. True hunting situation. All my gear on me, to reiterate my hands were pretty cold as well.

Trad-
IMG_20200411_101127724.jpg

Miss. Hit my arm, didn't have my armguard on. Also I don't use a glove when hunting, so shooting bare fingers.

Walked back to the house and got my compound.

Day #1 compound-
IMG_20200411_102123993.jpg

Good shot, had to let down. Peep had rotated on me. Not bad for a bow I haven't hardly shot since October.

Day 2- 44 degrees no wind, earlier in the day so the sun was in my face a bit. Made the compound shot a little difficult, stick wasn't quite as bad.

IMG_20200412_090548257.jpg

Compound is 11 0'clock, not quite as bad as the picture looks, probably 4" high of center and 1.5" left
Recurve is down around 7, not a terrible shot, at this point I'll take it. Really out of my comfort zone with my stick, be better and 25. But still a lot of time until September.

Day 3. This is starting to suck. It's 73 degrees. Sustained winds of 20+ mph and gusts of 35 plus coming in from 4-7 o'clock. Compound I let down twice. Hiked around a good bit this morning. Probably had 25+ # pack on with gun and everything. So still keeping it realistic.

IMG_20200413_121059522.jpg
IMG_20200413_121236509.jpg

Hit high with the compound at about noon. So that's a miss. Shot right under the brisket with the stick. I wasn't going to shoot but I'd rather get back to my regular shooting than prolong the cold bow anymore. On the plus side I guess there must be some metal in the flip piece on my deer target. Really wrecked my Exodus blade. Great day of shooting. It's 5 o'clock somewhere I guess.

Day 4. Finally. No hunting clothes today. No pack. Late in the day with flip flops on. And no wind!!!
IMG_20200414_175054619.jpg
Two pinwheels. Stick is the one that stands out more. Maybe it's just been the weather. See tomorrow.

Day 5: Wind at 9 o'clock, about 8 mph I think. Cool, something like 38-39 degrees. Compound felt decent, didn't adjust my hat for my stickbow so had to let down and draw a second time.
IMG_20200415_104530875.jpg

Compound was a little low but I'm ok with it, definitely out of my range with the stick bow. Another miss with it. They were all going left, guess I need to keep working with it. I didn't expect to go 5/5 with it but I thought I'd do a little better. I also wanted a baseline with it, I'll do this again in August and see how I have improved.

To the point-

Big thanks to Robby and the other mods, of course all the sponsors too for stepping up and donating to this project. Lots of fun. Maybe next year rename it the Humble Bow project.

MER: 40 yards
Mathews Z3, pulling 70#, shooting Beman ICS Pro Hunter arrows, 340 spine, with 100 grain field points. Switched to a thumb release around cold bow time last year, and it's been the most helpful gear tweak to anything I've made in a while. Shooting a Tru Ball Tru Fire Edge 4.

Day 1: Crisp 60 degrees, sunny, calm wind.
Screenshot_20200411-105724_Gallery.jpg

Day 2: Similarly perfect conditions to yesterday. Feeling good so far.
Screenshot_20200412-100554_Gallery.jpg

Day 3:
Blowing pretty hard, I'd say 15 sustained. Happy with my placement considering the conditions.

Screenshot_20200413-154953_Gallery.jpg

Day 4:
Stiff breeze, nice 60 degrees. Pulled my shot a little, but still within an acceptable Whitetail-sized kill zone.

Screenshot_20200414-174006_Gallery.jpg

Day 5:
Chilly (for Virginia) 50° and gusty. Still perfectly happy with my placement on this one.

Screenshot_20200416-084145_Gallery.jpg

Being a poor grad student who lives in an apartment without the room or financial bandwidth for an archery pro shop, I think 40 is a solid max on my end. If I ever draw a tag out west, I'll probably get deeper into the weeds with pushing my archery MER. It's definitely impressive to see what some of the guys on here have going on, as well as an awesome opportunity to learn from y'all. For now, though, 40 is plenty for my Whitetail woods- and the tried and true Z3 performed great!

Day 1 mid to upper 40s slight breeze right to left

Day 2 mid 50s slight breeze at my back
ee508673cd357bd859ea14de072d61fa.jpg

Day 3 debated not shooting winds of a steady 25 with gusts even higher straight left to right blowing the bow all over head on the edge of the target and remember why I hunted with a trigger last year had a hard time wanting to let the shot break let down twice feeling like I was going to rip it off

Day 4 around 30 and windy again slight snow flurries let down a few times because of wind

Day 5 high 20s no wind low light basically holding on center of target

This challenge showed me a lot I may not be as confident as I thought worked through a few issues with my release and pushed myself to shoot on days I normally wouldn’t since we don’t get to pick conditions when an opportunity arises. I think with more shooting over the summer my 60 yard shots will shrink to what I’m expecting of my self. I will do this again in August and will be cool to compare where I am then
60 yards
Hoyt helix ultra 31” draw 80 pounds Hoyt 2 piece quiver with 5 arrows
Spot Hogg fast Eddie 3 pin middle as the slider
Aae doa rest
Bstinger 12” bar
Brand new yesterday catfish custom strings
250 spine day six arrows
Currently shooting magnus black hornets(may pick up some wide iron wills)

CE53CAD2-6FBD-4192-88C1-CB51D050853F.jpegGlad I made it in on this I have been waiting since last year for it to come back around.
equipment
Matthews Traverse @73lbs and 27 3/4 “ draw
27 3/4 inch Easton Hexx 330 with 100 grain field points23D61935-768F-451A-8A02-E0C80D270680.jpeg
Montana Black Gold sight
Bee Stinger micro hex 12 inch counter balance stabilizer
I will be shooting 60 yards and it might be ugly but I’m gonna push myself.
Day one 70 degrees , 2-3 mph wind from right to left.

A little more equipment info. I’m using a QAD rest and shooting a Carter Nock 2 It release.

Day 2 68 degrees almost no wind.
8A90EC74-F597-4633-84B3-A4235D0458D6.jpeg

Day 3 72 degrees wind right to left at 5 to 7 mph. Shot felt really good and settled nicely where as I have been having a little trouble lately getting settled.

Day 4 wind from left to right at 20mph. 65 degrees. Beautiful day. Almost punched at the shot which I used to struggle with. Switching to the Carter hand release instead of a wrist style has helped me tremendously. It took me a while to get used to it but even when my shot isn’t perfect it seems to help.

Day 5 68 degrees and almost no wind. I didn’t shoot yesterday due to 25+ mph gusts and no way I would shoot at an animal at this range with those conditions. I kept the all in the diamond (elk size vital) which I didn’t do last year. I truly believe the hand held release is a game changer for me. Thanks for putting this on it is always fun and a challenge. I could actually feel the pressure to keep shot 5 in the diamond.

Sorry for the added thumbnails and repeat photos I’m not sure how I did that. I tried to fix it but not sure how without erasing the photos. If it needs to be changed will a moderator please contact me. I will stick to shooting and not computers 🤦🏻

Mathews traverse. #75 draw, hamskea hybrid rest, accutouch carbon sight, black eagle x impact and Valkyrie blood eagle broadheads total arrow weight 583 going 275 fps, option quivilizer quiver. I choose 85 yards for this cold bow challenge. I am choosing a deer size vitals

day one weather 55 degrees slight left to right wind. I was aiming at the black area just to the left of my arrow.

day two. 54 degrees had a slight wind directly in my face.

day three. 64 degrees no wind and sunny, dropped my bow arm a little but managed to sneak it in.

day four. 60 and sunny, slight right to left wind

day five. 50 and windy, had a gusting wind straight at my target.
Wrapped up the cold bow challenge it was a lot of fun, thanks for chance at participating.
