Cold Bow 2025.... QnA Thread

Here's a very, very small data set in regards to velocity loss with a few different broadheads.
Edit, I'm an idiot and didn't link...
Thread 'Broadheads at distance, velocity lost.' https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/broadheads-at-distance-velocity-lost.382659/
Thanks! It’s certainly something to at least be aware of…then again probably most aren’t shooting BHs past 60 or extreme distances in most realistic hunting scenarios. I’m attempting to account for it on the CBC. I tested a IW last year and recently. Very eye opening to see the velocity decay and amount of POI low it causes with the same arrow.

The 3 blade QAD Exodus has way more drag than a 2 blade IW I tested at 20 and 70 yds.

How many guys are shooting with a quiver and full load of arrows? Just curious, I have a habit of not shooting with a quiver most of the off season.

Mother day plans today/morning, church, then ILs for bbq. So I’ll shoot my second tomorrow morning and third probably Tuesday evening or so. Might jump on the video train 🤷‍♂️
I sometimes do and sometimes don't depending on what I'm doing, but I did for this one. Even though it's only a 4 arrow quiver it sure acts like a sail in 30+ gusty winds.

Love this challenge. Hate posting my shots on the internet tho.lol
Pressure.🥵
Everything helps tho. Real big game it's a whole lot worse so I ges I just need a stronger mind. My biggest dislike is the couple days of no practice. I miss it already😅

My target box sagged from the dew and the whole thing's off kilter for day 3. I really should have taped my killzone, cause this is as borderline as it gets. One blade cut the front of the zone. I'm calling it a kill. Finished up with 2/3. This was the best shot process arrow of the challenge for me. It's really wild to see how much affect this training cycle has had on my capabilities. I shot at 30 yards last year and did as well or better with the same bow.

You’re in brother. Thanks for coming out again and it’s always an education for all of us.

Ended with 2/3 with the 1 miss still being a dead deer and that’s all I really strive for. Everything is dropping low right so I have some adjusting to do with broadheads. Just wish I was shooting this at 50 yards not 35.

Gotta treat it like any kind of sport. The goal is to be at peak performance come September/October. Get yourself a game plan and work it! I don't mind my MER being 20 for this challenge, cause I know how to lengthen that and hone in for the fall.

Thanks for putting this on again this year! I need more pressure shooting opportunties and this is something I look forward to each year. Thanks again to Rokslide, mods, and sponsors for all the work that goes into it. It's great to see all the posts and videos also!

Post #46. Man this filled up fast this year! I went 3/3, usually I'm good for at least one screw up so I'm really happy. I'm thinking about getting a recurve to double my chances 😂 That little Swaro is calling my name.

This is such a great event. I don't miss a year. I believe I've done it every year since the beginning. It really helps get the bow out and get it ready to go 2 months before I normally would. Thanks to all the sponsors and to Rokslide for putting this on!

despite the few critics in the beginning, this was one of the main reasons we kept this going. So many guys have said this. I know all the studs are shooting 24/7/365+mothers day but if we're all helping make a few shooters realize limitations, that makes for better bowhunting for all

@Howard Mee is prolly the most honest guy in the challenge (post #4).

thanks for not hiding the warts Howard. And that booing crowd at the end of your videos is hilarous.

Keep pounding away man, and thanks for taking the lead post. That is PRESSURE!

I was so scared of Billy Goats incoming meme, I tried extra hard!

you look like you love me Billy Goat, hahahah, flame away brother! lol

As I said on my post (#10), this is my best CBC in years. I've dropped at least an arrow a year since about 2021, and this is the furthest I've challenged at (formerly 55). If you heard the podcast I did with @Billy Goat , the switch to a faster arrow was all I changed (from 454 gr/268fps to 390 gr/283 fps--roughly--and one degree of lighter spine ) & as he explained, this allowed for a little more forgiveness with my mediocre form. I really don't care to hunt beyond 60 so I think I'm good on MER and am just going to continue to hone in. Also, gotta say I had very light winds for day 1 & 3 and that makes a difference.
