So, I find I want to shoot my 243 more than my 223. The bigger (but still small) chambering is just more fun to me.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
Also, the more I think about it, the more a case like 6.5x55 Swede or 7x57 Mauser sounds perfect for a Tikka action and reloading. Standard bolt face, more powder capacity than 308/CM based cases, and more room to hang a heavy for caliber bullet out front compared to 30-06 cases.
For me the 223 will do everything, so none of this is needed, but if bigger is more fun, fun is worth a lot.
Speaking of fun, perhaps wildcat one of those cases, not as extreme as going AI, but straighten out the sides a touch, push the shoulder down to 35 degrees, and have a longer neck. Again, not needed, just might be fun.
