So, I find I want to shoot my 243 more than my 223. The bigger (but still small) chambering is just more fun to me.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Also, the more I think about it, the more a case like 6.5x55 Swede or 7x57 Mauser sounds perfect for a Tikka action and reloading. Standard bolt face, more powder capacity than 308/CM based cases, and more room to hang a heavy for caliber bullet out front compared to 30-06 cases.

For me the 223 will do everything, so none of this is needed, but if bigger is more fun, fun is worth a lot.

Speaking of fun, perhaps wildcat one of those cases, not as extreme as going AI, but straighten out the sides a touch, push the shoulder down to 35 degrees, and have a longer neck. Again, not needed, just might be fun.

You can snag a 6.5x55 T3x off of euro optic on sale right now. I love my Swede. The 6mm idea is interesting to think about…first I need to shoot the barrel out of the original 6.5 first. The cycling of the longer case in the tikka action is hot butter I love it.

Not be a Creedmoor.

Nothing meaningful. Touch more velocity reloading. Make better use of the Tikka action length. Piss off @Scooter88 because it is European, but he still can't make fun of me for having a Creedmoor.
Cool, the Swede ai seems like a nice use of the size given you don’t want a mag bolt.

A 22x57 could be fun to piss off a lot of the world with

I didn’t see a 7 Mauser in a T3 out there on the inter webs but I didn’t look very hard. Would you have to re-barrel?

Prefit. I don't think Tikka has a factory offering.

I would not be opposed to a second spare Tikka action though. My 243 barrel came with and action too.

I really want a tikka in 6 arc for fun, but currently still too many hoops to jump through/can’t justify another rifle.

A rokstok tikka in 6.5 sweed would be slick
Yeah, wood Rokstok lite on a blued 6.5x55 would almost be nice.

How about a 257AI

If I did a quarter-bore, this would be the one I would do.

Another fun thing to do if you have a mag bolt-face Tikka that is collecting dust now is to build a Sherman Short, Short Tactical, or Max with it.
I just had a factory 6.5 Creed punched out to 6.5 Max. Planning to have a lot of fun with it.

I kind of get what you’re saying. 223s don’t quite turn my gears like a little bigger stuff and they seem more finicky. Improved Swede is a pretty cool spot. 6 creed’ish is plenty for me to get over the hump though.
