Reading through this thread, I see a lot of guys saying carnivore helped with inflammation/Joint pain etc. I have gout. I have it under control and down to one flare up a year in the spring. Looks like I will have to live with that one. I don't take medication, just gave up beer and shellfish and that took care of most of it for me. Redmeat/venison is generally listed as a common trigger for people with gout (never seemed to be one for me). Has anyone else with gout seen increased flare ups while doing carnivore?

Most of those electrolyte powders are just sodium and potassium. If you add more fish, especially fatty fish, into your diet you'll up the potassium and magnesium intake considerably. As for the sodium, I probably get way too much of that with just about any meat I'm eating because I load it up with salts.

Second go around. First time was about 5 years ago and lasted only a month. This time I am committed to at least 100 days. 42 years old, 6’, starting weight was 274. Two and a half weeks in and am down to 255 and feel better than I have in years.

Anybody else try or on carnivore? Anybody interested and want to know what to do and/or expect feel free to DM or reply. I have done extensive research and will answer the best to my ability. I will post pics after 100 days.
Any negative affects you are having?

So I got my test results back. Perfect 0 on the Calcium Score of all arteries tested. The ultrasound in the neck to look for potential of stroke appears very good also. Double the bacon please, with some red meat and eggs on the side.
On a serious note, for the cost, time it takes, and my family history, I will probably continue to have these tests done annually.
From December 8 till today I am down 40 lbs.
Hopefully more active summer can get me down another 5 + lbs. Also need to tone up some.
This is interesting as my total cholesterol is up but my triglycerides are low, and the Dr wants me on statins. I sure don't want to be on statins but don't want a stroke or heart attack either. I'm down 45 lbs to 185, blood pressure down to 104/64 avg, heart rate is 70 , feel great, and was called a DILF at age 50 LOL 😆.

More and more info coming out that cholesterol isn't (and never was a problem) for most. Our bodies need cholesterol for cellular health and hormone production.

Just be sure to avoid charred (carbonized) meat.

Indigestible plant fiber, like cabbage, feeds gut bacteria in the lower GI that produce lactic acid, which, in turn, breaks down carcinogens like meat char.

So to be healthy, one needs the other.

New to the Forum read through this really quick. Former amateur strongman got up to 310lbs was pretty strong but was extremely uncomfortable and felt like shit and in constant pain. I've maintained a Carnivore diet for close to 6 years. I have an occasional cheat meal birthday, anniversary and Thanksgiving(my favorite holiday). I occasionally drink bourbon every other Saturday. Absolutely love this way of eating and food has no control over me any longer. I got down to my lowest weight of 225lbs, I float around 235-240lbs now and feel awesome. No more inflammation no more brain fog I eat one big meal a day with a snack after work on my off days I eat one big meal usually around 2 pounds. I'm off my thyroid meds and TRT, only meds I take are krill oil, vitamin d.

I did start to lose interest and thought about going back to a SAD after 2 doctors tried to put me on cholesterol meds due to "high cholesterol." I had some good friends ask me about the diet and felt motivated again. Also both doctors refused to get me in for a Coronary Artery Calcium Scan so one of my friends that started doing Carnivore is also a doctor so he got me in for a CAC scan. I had to pay $150 out of pocket but the test was well worth it as I have Zero calcified plaques in my arteries. I'm going to continue this way of eating and get a CAC scan every few years.

The frontal lobe of the brain is made primarily of cholesterol. In the 70s once the war on cholesterol began to today, dementia, early onset altheimers, and other mental disorders are up 1000%, I think the two have a definite corelation.

I really like this doctor. His advice seems to be very good.

I started carnivore on 7/15 so I'm just 10 days in. Down 13 pounds 289 to 276 in the first 5 days and then maybe one more pound in the second 5. My face looks different, and I can now see my whole belt buckle. I realize this was all water that my body let go of as I depleted my glycogen, so not a real change, but it still feels good.

What I didn't expect is going so long between meals and not really feeling hungry. A couple days (including today) I only ate once. Other days I'll have one bigger meal and then one smaller snack before bed. I didn't really plan or try to do this but I can see myself settling into an OMAD groove.

My question is: will it be better to consciously try to limit total calories or just eat plenty as long as it's critters?

Like today my one meal came out to 1350 calories which seems pretty small to me, but I don't feel like I'm starving either. Is it better to make a little bit of an effort to eat somewhat small like this or is that somehow going to hinder me?

My long term goal is 1 chin and no cpap...

Oh yeah, for anyone thinking about this, I didn't pee out that 13 pounds of water... A few days in I started adding a little psyllium fiber with my meal and that seems to be a solid improvement.

I'll also say I had done Atkins and Keto once or twice years ago and so far this is WAY easier. I think the 20g of carbs that was allowed just kept teasing and fueling the craving for more carbs. I would obsess over wanting to eat everything I couldn't.

Not on carnivore. It's like I'm aware that I'm hungry but it's just background information never in the forefront of my mind.

I don’t think it’ll hinder you. Some people do great on OMAD. Just be sure to get enough fat in your OMAD and don’t skimp on the salt.

I've noticed it's very easy to go long periods between meals w/o hunger signals as well. It's very easy for me to basically do a 23 hour fast, with a 1 hour eating window that I'll put down a couple ny strips and 4 eggs. I frequently make taco meat and scramble it with a dozen eggs. I went from 233 to 219 in a week, obviously lots of water weight. I have gone back up to 223 lately, but I'm in the gym every day with weights and 30 mins cardio. More definition and a leaner physique is definitely noticbale even with the weight gain. I don't monitor cals or macros, just eat a lot of eggs, red meat, cheese, and natural butter.

Depleted glycogen stores def drop my stamina in the gym, I used to be able to train for 2.5-3hrs, now after 90 mins I'm done. My fasted glucose used to be in the 90s, now routinely in high 60s to mid 70s.

I’m on day 22 of carnivore (started 7/6). I started because I was struggling with all the crap food dropped off at our house following the arrival of my first child on June 29th. This has been easy with couple weeks of paternity leave and not having social pressure to eat since we don’t leave the house often.

Days 4 through 6 sucked with headaches and sore legs, but that has gone away with K1000 and Celtic salt. I don’t seem to need the supplements as much now. I have kept my training up and honestly feel great. This is much easier than keto or any other “diet” I have done before. As mentioned above, there are no teases that are prevalent with keto. I’m essentially eating a ribeye for lunch and then eggs and ground elk for dinner. Super simple, super easy.

I initially said I would do this for 30 days, but am now considering continuing on past 30 days with this.

I started a “lazy carnivore” or a keto if you will on 7/15. I gradually lowered carbs and junk for the first week and I had no sickness of any kind. Now I focus on meat and protein predominantly. The only carbs I eat are pretty much rice and maybe a sweet potato. I still count calories to make sure I’m in a deficit but I have had no trouble doing that.
I started at 324 pounds and today two weeks later I am 314 pounds and I’ve lost an inch on my waist.
My pain in my heels and back have lowered significantly.
My energy is more constant throughout the day.
My wife says I’ve stopped snoring.
My goal weight is 240 pounds. Keep on trucking!

Today is day 26.
I gave blood today and BP was 121/67. I am normally closer to 130/85. I wouldn't call that enough to say my cardiovascular health is definitively better, but at least that one metric isn't much worse.
