If you had to drop 30lbs and couldn’t workout???

Well I want to say thank you for everyone who offered up advice. It worked! I spent the passed two days at the hospital doing all the pro-op appointments. Drs are more than happy with the weight loss. 17 lbs officially. Everything is in order to proceed with the surgery.
Nicely done!

Congrats man! The nice thing about bettering your physical health is that it gets easier and easier mentally and physically. Your body is adapting to a healthier diet and increased exercising. Slowly increasing the excercise when you are able to post surgery and the sky is the limit.

I ran a 5:10 mile last spring and had the goal to get into the high 4s,,, Unfortunately I work on a boat June-Nov and kinda fell off. Now here I am stuck on the boat again. Can still run low 6 high 5 without training, but at some point I want to work towards that goal again.

Kinda funny tho right when I thought I was getting fast,,, a friend of mine ran that same low 5 min pace for an entire marathon and qualified for Olympic trials haha. Made me feel like a snail..

I recently injured my Achilles tendon and had to stop running. I went on a diet to help me lose weight and hopefully heal. I went on the carnivore diet and dropped 32 pounds in about 2 months, now the weight loss has slowed down to about a pound a week. I feel great, the achilles is starting to feel better. I have done diets like slow carb and carnivore, both have been super easy to shed the pounds i think you would have no trouble at all.
Without writing a novel here the Dr wants me to loose 30 lbs before June 17th.

I had a L4-L5 spinal fusion September ‘22. Follow up microdicectomy May of ‘23. Since then things got somewhat better but never even close to feeling good or pain free. The past 8 months or so things have gotten progressively worse. I’ve done hundreds of PT sessions, injections, spinal decompression, etc… You name it I’ve tried it. My disk below the fusion has ruptured and is not only out but out and down. I am scheduled for an L5-S1 fusion. Since they have to tie in to the existing fusion this surgery is higher risk and they will operate from the front on the 17th then from the back on the 19th. Pretty pissed about this whole thing but I have no choice because I can’t walk for more than a few feet. It’s constant shooting pain from my back into my left calf.

Anyway if you were told to drop 30lbs what would you do? For reference I started 6’2” 251lbs last week when I got the Drs orders. Was 283 4 years ago. Did a 3 day fast this past weekend and am at 244 now. My plan is a mix of fasting and carnivore but looking for ideas. Keep in mind any cardio or major lifting is out of the question .

Meal prep start with 5 days of lunch and dinner, track your calorie intake with myfitnesspal, get a scale to weigh your food. Move your damn body, get a walking pad if you have to. 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, keep the carbs low and youll see it fly off.

I'll toss my 2 cents in. I am 72 and lost the same 25 pounds 20 times in my life. Previously I always thought exercise was the key to losing weight. I'm here to tell you that for some people that simply isn't true.
Been consulting with a dietitian every few months and at the beginning (Nov 24) he told me to be careful of the exercise trap as it can be a double edge sword. Yes, it does help you burn more calories. But in return it can also trigger an appetite that is very difficult to control. And, at least for me in this regard he is right. I backed off most exercising and just try to remain active. Still walk a couple times a week, 2.5 miles. Pace is slow. Even the days I walk I find myself constantly wanting to eat more and always reaching for snacks.
The end result. I am currently down 42 pounds with my new approach and finding it much easier to stay on this new life style change.
I don't pay attention to carbs, fats, or proteins, Just calories.

Find what works for you.

I saw you already lost a good amount of weight and had your surgery, hope all went well. Weight loss is simple calories in vs calories out. If you eat less calories than you burn a day you lose weight. I've lost 60lbs before just keeping it simple like that. I tracked calories and even ate junk food pretty often but I kept it in my calorie limit.
