X4 and all x zones always have some deer around. Last year was tough hunting conditions and didn't see many deer. This year is shaping up to be the same. Heard of a lot of lost archery deer this year so prob killed alot of the bucks wastefully. It's a fun hunt.

Agreed. Looking forward to it. We've got our spots. Hopefully a little luck comes through as well. Looking forward to that full moon and 90 degree weather this weekend though...

My x4 buck in 2019 was definitely more blacktail than mule deer. West end of the unit, I have trail cam vids showing his full rear with a big black tail... was not too impressed with x4 as a whole.

.Haha yep I know. Some don't recognize the fact that we have blacktail cross on the east side of I5 but that is indeed the fact. I see them every day in my yard, and they don't have the mules tail. X4 and all of the X zones are suffering, most agree, some don't, but the herds are down severely in most units. it's a sad state of affairs, and we should all be concerned. There are confirmed wolf sightings as far west as Fall River Mills, and that's a far cry from what our Fish and Wildlife folks are admitting to. They are complicit in the proliferation of the wolves and that aspect of predation will be the end of hunting in California until those with the gut to do so stand up and start killing the wolves and lions and predators in general. The CA fish and wildlife have turned woke like the rest.. we have to step up BIGLY to check their idiotic agenda. Otherwise, we won't have much to look forward to..

I wish there were enough hunters in California to make a difference politically. Those days are long gone.
