Ca barrel buying 2026

Any Ca residents know exactly what the new law coming Jan 1st means for buying pre fits and barrel blanks? As far as I know any barrel purchase post Jan 1 has to go thru ffl? And post July 1 fees and dros will attach to barrel purchases?

I don't know the answer, but I bet barrel makers like Preffered Barrel Blanks would be willing to tell you what they are going to do about shipping parts there.

Barrels will have to go through an FFL, remains to be seen what the fees will look like on that but it won't be free.

Then there is the nonsense about parts and accessories where you'll have to upload your ID to the sites prior to purchase and then sign for the delivery. Hopefully they'll let us route packages to UPS/FedEx pickup points and sign there but not every company allows that. I know Midway and Brownells do not

Pretty sure if it's delivered after Jan 1 then it'll have to go to an FFL, I guess it would be up to your maker as to whether that's followed. I've been holding off on ordered a HNT26 chassis because that's a bunch of money to have tied up not knowing where it will have to ship to, or if it will be subject to the 11%. I don't think we know any of this yet

That's definitely worth a call to PBB - a number of gun industry companies have shifted shipping priorities around when weird crap like this gets shoved onto people in unfree states, and they may very well be willing to do that for you guys if you explain what's up.
