Best internal frame pack

After talking to a few guides recently about a horseback goat hunt it seems most recommend a internal frame pack around 3500 cubic inch. So as the title says what do most guys recommend as a good pack? Thanks for any help!

If you read the numerous threads about packs on here, you'll find that most of the members recommend Kifaru, Stone Glacier, Exo and Seek Outside packs. They all make great packs, but in the end, the biggest factors are which pack fits you most comfortably and what your needs are.

If you truly want the best internal frame pack you'll be hard pressed to beat a McHale. Dan doesnt have a clever marketing dept or catchy camo patterns though.

Unlike others, you dont need to worry about it fitting you correctly. Because its custom built for you

I have been running an Exo 3500 since they first came out in 2014 and for me it’s a perfect blend of comfort, efficiency, and simplicity. I also like that they’re made in the US.

I have Kifaru and Exo, very happy with both. I would recommend that you put out some feelers for people near you that have some of these packs and try them on so that you can decide which is most comfortable for you.

Your opening Pandora's box with asking this. Im a Stone Glacier fan myself. The Xcurve Frame and the Solo would be right up your alley. Exo makes a great pack as does Kifaru. You cannot go wrong with any of the packs from these manufacturers. Like Coues suggested, you'll want to find others around you that have what you are interested in so you can try them on and see what fits you the best.

the kifaru timberline 1&2 with internal frames were good packs. i love my T2.
kifaru no longer makes internal frame packs that big which is a shame because they offered a lighter option than with a frame and bag. i guess the new model is make people buy a frame and make money off selling new release bags to go on them.

For everyone throwing about the big pack names the OP asked about internal frame packs. Not external frames. Kifaru timberline. McHale. Dana design. Mystery ranch. Just to name a few that are good quality. Personally id probably look at the mystery ranch mountain line. If you find one you like (I prefer the glacier) you can often fine them at steep discounts on other sites

Mystery ranch metcalf is a great pack I love mine very well made and handles a heavy load with ease

Internal Frame, makes sense for a horse back hunt were you not packing much weight and you won’t need to pack much out.

Kifaru 14R with extra pockets or the Tarryall. Or if you want a steal ....Sitka bivy 30 is on sale. All of these will work a match your outfitters recommendation.

I'm not sure we are all on the same page regarding external vs internal frame. There are not many external frame packs being marketed currently. An external frame pack would be one that you can see the frame like an exoskeleton over or on the outside of the bag like this one from Alps.

I would agree with this, to me, an internal frame pack has the frame fully contained within the pack, which rules out any of the pack brands that allow you to run multiple bags on the same frame.

X's 4. Most if the exo, sg, kifaru, etc... are still external frames (absolutely nothing wrong with that but the OP asked about internals). Internal are a different ball of wax

The older Arcteryx Bora is a tried and true internal frame that can be found for an affordable price....if affordable is important to you. I have a 90 and 55 liter and both are very good, durable and functional packs....I did modify the hip belts to forward pull and hung a molle2 radio pouch on the inside top against the back for heavy items ....actually I use one mod belt/pouch for both since I only use one at a time.

I like my McHale LBP 36 w/ the bypass straps/p & g bayonets - though if it were only going to be used for a single hunt I probably wouldn't recommend; the fitting process takes a long time and the pack itself is spendy.
