Bass Pro/Cabela’s Price Match

I did. Showed them both their website price match page and the sportsman’s warehouse price on the spotting scope. I brought it up many times quoting their website where it says “we price match our competitors pro members get the match with an additional 5%” but they still wouldn’t budge. Idk maybe because I showed up close to closing on Christmas Eve. I get it no one wants to work or has plans and family time to get to. So did we a were already running late.

It was just frustrating that they wouldn’t honor their own policy.

I mean when I worked retail, the closer you got to closing, especially on Christmas Eve, the more likely I would have done it. I just wanted you out of the damn store so I could go home.

No surprise there...

Bass Pro is horrible and Scheels seems to be killing them. The local Cabelas and BP add an extra waiting day to the gun sales. They won’t match local prices and it seems they go out of their way no to help.

Seems to be? Ha! Cabelas is a rummage sale if it could be compared to Scheels. But it isn’t even close. Why people still shop there is beyond belief.

If there was a way I could trade in my bass pro to scheels it would be great. Since the scheels is closer but a new bass pro is about to open a few minutes from the scheels.

Cabelas used to be an immediate and easy price match. That went down the drain along with any other reason to shop there a couple years ago. I still get points from my Cabelas Black card or I'd never go in there anymore. They gave me this same runaround as the OP the last time I was trying to burn some points. You should be able to get them to do the price match through customer service online, and they almost always have a free shipping promo of some kind.

I wanted to buy a rifle from the gun library, but I had an appointment, and I couldn't stand around for their 1.5 hour gun checkout process, so I came back afterwards. The gun library was all locked up, at 3:00 in the afternoon. I asked up front why, and they said that the gun library has different hours than the store, but those hours are not posted anywhere, so I guess you just have to keep trying?

Its sad what Cabelas has become.

But the Bass Pro veteran discount is nowhere as good as the old cabells veteran discount

Guess I never used the old discount. I cannot complain about 10% all year for most anything and 5% all year for firearms and ammo. My nearest store is about 45 minutes one way so I tend to be slow on those purchases unless I can do it online safely. I cannot complain about 10% off on a Nightforce scope with the points to my NavyFed card.

Call the 800 number on the website. I bet they get you fixed uo. Don't call the store. They have mostly morons at our local store, though one of the managers has helped me out a few times.

When I called the 800 number they price matched Scheels price on 15 cases of shotgun shells and gave me the extra 10% for club memeber Monday and shipped them for free. It took maybe 10 minutes on the phone.

are you sure it’s 10% most anything? I ask because that was the actual Cabellas discount. It seems to me, with checking the receipts after every purchase, Bass Pro only provides the discount on some but not all purchases.

I have used the discount a lot within the last two years. I have purchased a pistol, Garmin Fenix 8, and Garmin Xero 1, reloading gear, and ammo all with the discounts applied. Maybe the Texas stores are just better?

Also, here is the exact page for their policy.

Yes. I've used it several times in the last couple years. Works great when you get the 10% off of sale items, plus I try to buy when Active Junky is 10% cash back as well. Throw in all those gift cards that I seem to get, and I kind of have to buy stuff from them.

When they have club member discounts, plus add Active Junky, you can get some deals. Then you can sometimes add a price match to that equation for more savings.

I bought a Terrova trolling motor last year and it was a serious deal by the time I stacked everything up, plus it was on earn extra point promo, too.

Two years ago go I got a deal on a Garmin 300i and two TT25's that was equally as good.

I also bought some Ruffland dog crates the same way.

Similar experience couple weeks ago. My son and I headed up to PNW to hunt sea ducks. I bought a case of heavy shot on Monday, 12/15 to be picked up 12/16. They showed to be in stock and was gonna be a local pickup. Got the email that afternoon the order was ready for pickup and would be held until December 29. Great! Or so I thought.

Get to the store and go to pickup counter. They said my order wasn’t there and would have to be shipped. I showed my email and she shrugged her shoulders. I ask for a manager and a purple haired freak came out to help, no help.
In the meantime, my son walked over to the ammo section and text me dad the shells are here on the shelf. So I chilled out, no biggie.
I asked the purple haired one, if she would let me take this case since it was the only one they had in stock to fulfill my order, and it was most likely the one I ordered but didn’t get pulled.
She said no, but I could buy them for regular price because the 10% off is on monday and this is Tuesday sir.
I wanted to remind her Halloween had passed and it was nearly Christmas and to take her purple get up off but I kept my cool and calmly explained I was aware of the days and sale days but she dug her feet in. An older gentleman, that works there, had been listening to the conversation. He patted me on the shoulder and said just get them and call the 1800 number and they’d make it right. He said complaints on their management is common and he always tells folks to call in.
So I bought the shells and my son and I had a heck of a time shooting sea ducks. I got home and called 800 number and they credited me the difference in what I paid vs the 10% off.

So I tried again today hoping there was different people working. The guy at the optics said that they do price match to any customer. Gave me the spotter and sent me to customer service where the guy there asked to see the website on my phone. Price matched it. No hesitation. Today, compared to Christmas Eve, day and night difference. Did not have to argue with anyone. Guys knew what they were doing and did what their policy states. Great service.

I did end up getting a better price thanks to @dieselchessy for posting the websites/stores they approve to price match.

Cabelas $899.99
Sportsman’s $764.99 (which is what I tried to use Christmas Eve)

Brownells $719.99, which is what I used today.

I've never bought a gun at Cabela's and never will. Their prices aren't great and their process is 2-3x as long (or more) as any other LGS. They've kept all their pandemic restrictions in place. You can't just walk up to the counter and browse guns anymore. You have to log your name and then wait to be called. There is no "browsing". Their ammo prices suck too.

I will not spend money at BP or Cabelas anymore.

When a company partners with another to offer something that isn't in the best interest of the customer under certain circumstances, I want nothing to do with them.
I completely understand and agree that they’ve went down hill a bit, and I’m always willing for a good boycott on a company that is anti hunting or peta supporting etc… but boycotting a company that has put more money back into conservation and support of hunting and the outdoors than probably everyone on this website combined doesn’t make much sense to me.
