Bare Minimum Equipment training

Walmart has bumper plates for $.80 /lb delivered right now…

Get a barbell and a squat rack off fb market place for cheap and you’re in business. Then pick up a bench and dumbbells as you find them.

Covid closed gym. Rejoined about two years ago, as GF wanted to.
I had bought a while ago two 45 # dumbbells, and I picked up a 50 lb dumbbell during CV-19.

Girlfriend found BOHO Beautiful, yoga, and had her own Kettlebells and dumbbells, and two yoga mats.
Walk, hike, yoga, and dumbbells. Minimal gear.

Covid closed the gym where I live too which is when I got really into kettlebell and body weight training. I’ve been back to a regular gym a few times but the convenience of training at home has spoiled me. Preparing for the gym, driving there, changing, signing in, waiting for equipment and all that? No thanks, plus I think I got better results doing things on my own.

Today my workout was kettlebell swings, Turkish getups and snatches with my 70lb kettlebell. Followed by 10 sets of 6 pull-ups, a ton of pushups then some weighted lunges.

I’ve been more consistent and far more productive working out at home. Now when I get a bigger house I’ll go all in and get a squat rack/barbell/bench etc.

Pre-Covid I hit the gym hard(2 hours everyday). Between gyms shutting down and work getting very demanding of me, I stopped going. My job is physically demanding and has kept me in shape until the last year as I promoted into new positions.

I just realized that I was starting to feel weak and gain some fat and decided something needed to change.
I have been doing 5ish sets of push ups a day(each set done until failure), planks and hollow holds for abs(2-3 of each, until failure on each rep), and 5 sets of squats with a 20lb kettlebell, each set done until failure. I’ve only been doing this since the new year but the kettle bell is the only piece of “equipment” I own and so far I’m seeing great results following this program. I’m sure at some point I’ll have to add more equipment, a pull up bar and an wheel being pressing, but I added the bit about previously being a gym junkie to share that I know what results I can see from going to a gym and using all the equipment I want, vs doing some very simple body weight workouts until failure.
