Anyone shooting 108 in a 243 win tikka?

Because tikka doesn’t make the 6cm, looking into their 243 with a 1:8 twist. Is that 1:8 going to be fast enough twist?

I’d likely cut it down to around 18” and thread for a suppressor. Figure I’d shoot for 2700 fps with the 108 that puts me 2000fps at 550 and 1800 at 725. Also loosely lines up with the yardage minus 2 = dial in mils rule of thumb

I'd guess you'll end up at that pretty comfortably. I'm at 3050 in a .243AI with 19" barrel. My Tikka factory .243 chamber was throated such that 108 ELDMs were not buried in the case, just grab M+ mags to seat out to the 2.85 (IIRC) that it will support in factory form (or just load at 2.80 and use factory mag)

So your 243 1:8 twist has worked well with the 108s?

I can't see why it wouldn't be fine. My couple of 6arc rifles were 1:7.5, 16" suppressed and handled the 105 and 108 Hornady both factory and reloaded with no problems, even at slower velocities than .243 will.

You could also take the 243 to a gunsmith and have him rechamber it to a 6CM to accommodate it if you wanted. That’s what I did just so I had factory ammo in the caliber that I wanted.

What kind of speeds are you getting?

And just curious why 15” when it’s now a SBR?

I pinned a brake on so that it wasn’t a SBR. I could push them almost 3k but group best right at 2800. It’s got something similar to +P done

I knew you could do that with a 22-250 to a 22cm but didn’t know about a 243 to a 6mm cm! I’ll have to see if I can find a good smith to send the gun to, lots of fuds around here lol

A 6 Creed won't clean up the chamber of a 243, so you'd need to set the barrel back a bit to make this work. It's more involved than the 22-250 -> 22 Creed punch out.
