If weather's this crappy in SE Missouri, I worry for the animals in the West. My buddies in eastern Montana are working their ass off to care for their cattle. Is this gonna be another nail in the coffin of antelope, deer, and elk?
Sadly yes. Just this morning I saw a heard of about 8 deer all frozen to death. Some fat guy in a red suit was out there butchering them and loading up the meat into a gigantic game bag on a wooden sled. That's gonna be a brutal packout. What an idiot.
After the snow we had a week ago there were troughs through the snow from deer trying to move around. It will probably be crusted now from the wind. If not yet it will be next week when it warms up.
Plus the cold for a few days this last week probably helped zap there energy a little more.
I think it’s going to be a rough winter for the deer and antelope in western ND.
It's currently 33 degrees colder in Indiana than at my parent's house near Great Falls, MT. The chinook will have the snow gone in a day or two. Of course, it was 60 degrees colder there on Tuesday.
